krill oil

What were you thinking the advantage is? It has a lower EPA/DHA, it does contain phospholipids but you can get that from normal food. It does have astaxanthin, but shrimp has 10 times the amount. Seems like a waste too me.

"People use krill oil for the same reasons they use fish oil, flax oil or other omega-3 fatty acids. Unlike fish oil, krill oil doesn't cause fishy burps or an aftertaste, a common side effect of fish oil. Also, krill oil contains higher amounts of astaxanthin than fish oil. Here are some specific conditions for which it's used.

Cholesterol

Krill oil is being studied as a natural remedy for high cholesterol. In one study, 120 people were given krill oil, fish oil or a placebo. Krill oil reduced LDL (commonly referred to as "bad") cholesterol by 34% and increased HDL ("good") cholesterol by 43.5% compared to the placebo. In comparison, fish oil reduced LDL cholesterol by 4.6% and increased HDL cholesterol by 4.2%. Krill also lowered triglycerides.

Premenstrual syndrome

Preliminary research suggests krill oil may help reduce symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), however, more research is needed.

Arthritis

A study in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition examined krill oil (300 mg daily) compared to a placebo and found that krill oil was effective at reducing arthritis symptoms and inflammation."

I've read it a few different places. Heres one i was just looking at the other day.

Ill try and find some more references if your interested.

The krill to shimp comparison isn’t really applicable – concentrated krill oil is much more concentrated in astaxanthin than dietary shrimp – which would be the only comparison to make. Until shrimp oil is readily available, there isn’t much to argue about here, krill oil is a superior choice for natural astaxanthin.

You could take fish oil, lecithin, and astaxanthin and still not see the same benefits as a 1gm of krill oil. IMO, there is a certain natural synergy unique to krill oil.

I realize you guys got a product too sell, i didnt see this was PP's section. I'll leave you be.

Hey, no problem.

We aren’t even selling the krill oil yet. If we didn’t believe it was a vastly superior omega-3 source we wouldn’t even be considering it. If someone could prove it’s not worth it, then that just saves us some time!

I remember reading one reason Krill Oil was superior is that the Omega-3 fatty-acids are bonded to the phospholipids making both more bioavailable/effective.

I would definitely jump all over PP Krill Oil. You guys make great products and only one other company to my knowledge makes Krill Oil. Hope to see this in the near future.
