Killn' The Cube: My powerlifting venture begins

Right in line for 365, bubba. And under 220!

agree on the first part, disagree on the second.

My weight was up to 245 at one point. I never mentioned it, not something I'm incredibly proud of.

I'm really excited for this new challenge. I'm going to be a whole new animal now that I'm getting this nutrition down.

245! You may not like the looks of it, but I love the sound of it!

Mmm. I'd get to eat lots of burgers to hit 245. I like it, too.

10 McDubs? Easy peasy.

I've been dying for a big Mac lately not sure why been a long time since I've had any fast food other then Chipotle, Chick-fil-a and Penara bread

I ate Chick-Fil-A Saturday. First fast food in forever. Their spicy chicken sandwich is awesome.

I could do crap like that in my twenties. Bastard

I'm still tracking calories. I'm eating at a little below maintenance. It's not hard to fit in.

Talking strict body composition (not health or performance) it really doesn't matter what you eat (within reason). It's all about calories, man. I mean, if you wanna get stage ready it's a difference story, but I'm talking your average guy getting down to 10-12% bf.

I'm know. I starve all day though. Fast food takes up too many calories in one sitting.

Workouts have been going well. I have a few Jui Jitsui guys training with me now. They're monsters on the ground from I've heard. There's no doubt in my mind I know how to get them stronger and more explosive. It's pretty cool for me because I've always enjoyed watching JJ even though my history is in boxing.

They're going to talk me into rolling before long.

ME upper:

2 board bench: 315x5x5

Incline BB bench:
225x6
245x6x3

Unilateral standing DB military press:
60x8
65x8x2

Banded press-downs: 30x4

Side lateral: a lot

Pec dec: just as much

Easy day. I'm still smoked from Saturday's DE work. Had a pretty solid ME lower day yesterday as well.

The AM app is being dumb. It literally won't work unless I'm at my house connected to my internet. Just started happening all of a sudden. Therefore, I have a lot of catching up to do on everyone's logs. Looking forward to seeing how everyone's doing.

That's a ballin-ass day on the two board homie! Incline presses strong too. You must really be bringing the beef up top these days.

Thanks, man.

Honestly, the weight was easy. I definitely have more muscle up top and everywhere for that matter. I've made some pretty solid progress the last couple years. Just need to keep working.

Had a DE lower session today that went well.

The nutrition is going exactly as I've planned. About 234 right now. I'm in this for the long haul. I genuinely think I can lose 1-1.5lbs a week and still get stronger. I think this approach is better than losing 15lbs in a month and undoubtedly losing strength.

DE session today. I'm tore up.

Ronnie Coleman is coming to my gym Wednesday and will be there at the same time as me. I don't know if I'm excited or annoyed at how crowded it's going to be.

That's the plan my dude! It beats yo-yoing in weight and strength constantly. This is how I'm going to operate now; slow cuts and slow bulks. It might not produce instant gratification but I believe it is ideal for my goals.

Yep that's why I'm trying RP approach seems to be working I'm maintaining atm cause I figure once I get back to work my calorie should be just about right to make a slight cut in weight then work back up again

I'd love to meet Ronnie, but you know you won't be able to have a legitimate conversation with the guy.

What is this I hear he might compete again?

I don't even know what kind of conversation to have with Ronnie Coleman. Like our lives are anything alike.

I just imagine this:

Me- "Damn, Ronnie you're huge."
Ronnie: "Lightweight."
Me: Ok. Be easy, Ron."

And I have no idea on the last part. I don't follow bodybuilding at all.

The worst part about rest days are keeping carbs >.5 per lb BW.

I've had:
- 1 bratwurst
- Over 1lb of chicken beast
- 1/2lb of turkey
- Baked beans
- Very small amount of sweet potatoes
-A P3 package
- Celery + baby carrots and 3/4 serving of natural peanut butter
- Salad
- Handful of peanuts
- PES select protein shake

Still hungry...nothing fills me up like a big ass bowl of potatoes or rice.

****ttt day

1.5" deficit deadlifts w/ chains:
515 (at top) x3x3

Front squat:
275x5
295x5x3

Hack squat machine:
5 plates per side x 8x4

Hamstring curls

Leg extensions

Calves

Disappointed about today. I guess the deficits were ok, considering I was only doubling them a few weeks ago. But, I'm better than that. Fronts felt terrible.

Gotta weigh myself soon, I have a feeling I've dropped some weight too fast. I'm weird, I can stay the same weight, then wake up one day 5lbs lighter. If so, I'm upping cals.

I'll take that crappy day very nice deficits

From what I've read the sudden drop in weight happens to a lot of people including me

I'd take those deads, too.

Thanks guys. I just want moreeeee.

My suspicion concerning weight was correct; I was around 230 even today. Too light, I need to add in cals. I'm already getting 240 grams of protein a day easy. I'll follow the book and add in more cals from fat.

Any suggestions on how much. I'm down nearly 15lbs in 3.5 weeks. The first 10 were excessive water in my opinion.

Might have just been a water thing as well, bud. But if strength is dipping, then by all means, add cals back in. If you PRed today, though, perhaps it's not as bad as you thought and should ride it out.

What do feel the cardio is doing for u? Just curious

Well, I use the term cardio loosely. I do sled drags, box jumps, prowler, stationary bike, and incline treadmill work.

For me I believe it has helped me recover faster and has increased my work capacity. I'm not doing too much really; just 15-20min a few times a week.

The most beneficial thing I'll probably get out of it is long-term health. I'm not going to be lifting in my 50's if I can't stay heathy.

It's hard to tell. I don't think my strength is dipping, but my goal, as us all, is to keep getting stronger. So, I'd rather up my cals and lose slower if it yields me some PR's.

I might just up it 2-300 for now and see how I respond.

I like this idea.

I hope it works out.

Everything is coming together. I have a goal to improve upon 3 more things and I think I'll have everything in check:

1- Do more mobility. I'm lucky if I roll on a PVC for 5-10min twice a week.
2- Improve my nutrient timing. I'm close, but I can improve.
3- Start hitting abs directly again. It's been months now.

Had a good back workout today. MM connection just felt on.

I neglected core work for awhile too and I think it bit me is the *******.

Looks like some good goals
