Killn' The Cube: My powerlifting venture begins

Happy Birthday man.

Nice work with that whore of a squat bar and heavy ass weight! 25 now, sounds like you're old enough to do a meet.

ME upper:

Bench w/o spot (weight + short light bands)
135x5
155x5
185x3x3

Bench with straight weight:
225x15- then the worst cramp of my life; had to rack

Z-press: 135x8x4- volume PR

High incline DB press (nearly a shoulder press):
80x10x4

NG cable press-downs: 90x20x4

Seated side lateral: a lot

Pec deck: enough

Nothing sexy about today, but it was productive.

Hit up some back today. The real story is that animal barbell is coming to my gym Feb 7. I know Pete Rubish, Brandon Lilly, and Iron Mafia are coming. Noice.

Awesome! I guess Pete's not doing that meet in WV. Makes me feel less bad about signing up on time.

Yeah, dude. I'm pretty excited about it. I know there's a lot more people I just can't remember all the names. Pre-cage ABC!

You going to the Arnold this year btw?

Don't think, Brosephine. Trying to get to a meet around that time so I won't be able to double dip. I hear there's a meet in Dayton on the 21st though!

Why not Set # x Weight x Reps?

Just my contribution...

Well, we had a discussion a while back about the most appropriate form and it was declared by the men with the highest masculinity and the most facial hair that reps x sets reigns supreme.

Just because Swanson's beard is awesome does not make him right!

Got some DE upper work in at some dingy gym in the middle of nowhere. Has to be the only gym in the world that doesn't have a bench.

But, I talked to some big guy at my gym last night that used to train with Jim Wendler and Mark Bell and others. He said his crew goes to Westside on Sat mornings. He gave me an invite; I might go for it. This dude had a huge total. I forget what exactly but a lifetime best raw dead of 895. He's still at 290 BW and lean as well, lol.

Ok, almost have my diet complete. Now I just need to write meals in accordance to the %'s of macro's.

I'm following the Renaissance diet. You guys turned me onto it. Diet is my only weak link right now and by that I do not mean overall calories (lol).

I'm just wondering, for those of you utilizing this diet, are you guys following it to the T? As in: meal 1-10% carbs, 10% fat. Meal 2-10% fat, 15% carbs.

To be honest I've been hafe a$$ing the timing part of it I bet I'm close thou

Edit: eat about 2/3 of my carb pre, Intra and post atm

O I see on FB he has his custom plans available tailored to your goals and times u train now for the low low cost of 99 bucks just fyi

I've been trying my hardest to follow the pre/intra/post carb timing and evenly spaced protein.

I also know a lot of bodybuilders, outside of AM, that swear by spreading the carbs out as well. I couldn't imagine eating 200g carbs between 0330-say 1000.

Without having it written out per day and knowing exactly what your going to eat the day before it's pretty hard

Do you guys meal prep or just wing it daily?

Thanks a lot for your input fella's.

Dmax I just might do that. I'm just kind of hesitant that there's a bunch of Lilly's out there, haha.

I've been eating right for about 5 days. Could be placebo, but I just feel so much more energy. My last missing link is this diet. I have to eat appropriate if I'm ever going to total elite. My body composition has to be better.

Of course this is a long range goal, but I'm thinking ahead, as always.

Wow great day Gratz on the pr's
Eating appropriately for your goal is so over looked many people believe they are eating right till they make the changes and see the difference

I'm going to have to step up my game on these fronts squat between u and swim I feel like a weakling lol

For sure, man. It's going to be a big change for me. I haven't ate right since my boxing days.

Something tells me that you've been sand bagging and you can hit a big front squat right now.

Nice freaking PRs ma man

Thanks, Rob!
