Killn' The Cube: My powerlifting venture begins

It'ss not getting winded by tying your shoes, it's an inability to reach your shoes, bud. From girth. You'll find out sometime around June, I'd imagine.

Week 6: conjugate

ME CG bench (thumb away from smooth):
295x2

3 weeks ago I did 265x3, so this is a size-able increase. This program is the sh1t. I get better at lifting heavy by lifting heavy more often. Who would have thought?

CG back down:
245x5
255x3

T-bar row:
175x12x2
200x12x2

Landmine press: 10x3- 95

Loved this.

Good day. I'm running late for work so I had to cut it short. Finishing up the entirety of it tmrw.

That is a big jump. Nice pressing mang!

Thanks dude. The increase in cals have contributed as well, but I'm liking this style of training. A lot.

I'll update the vid when I get Internet connection.

Still a pr ma man

Ehh, this is the first time I did a 2RM. So, I'm not going to claim it. I probably had another one in me, but I find if I leave a little juice in the tank I get stronger faster.

I feel the same way. Testing absolute maxes takes time to recover. We need a week to recover from a meet, so it's not much different if we go all out on a 1RM in the gym.

I disagree.

The reason you feel so rundown after the meet is because you took 3 1RM, not because you did 1.

It really doesn't take much to recover from a 1RM, especially with all aspects of recovery taken care of. Although, I don't ever do it in training. There's no training value to a 1RM in my opinion, 2 and 3 are much better options.

I had some butt lift, but I know how to fix it now, so I'm not too worried about it. Rep 2 was a lot smoother.

Yea true, not as extreme...except maybe deads for me personally. Couldn't tell you on squats bc it has been forever.

I can definitely say not going to absolute failure has made my life and training better. I goat ally agree with the "don't blow your wod in the gym" philosophy. I'm an old man though ;)

How old are you rob?

How old are you rob?

Not that old. 28, closer to 29. I'm on the cusp! Haha

In all seriousness, if I go absolute max, or try to and miss on Deadlifts it can literally set me back a few weeks. Something about it just destroys my CNS. I can stay in the 80-90% fine though.

Or you can look at it like 9 reps at like 95%+ depending what you go for. It's definitely more than just a few maxes. But yeah I think you need to get some heavy work in at times and leaving some in the tank is good but not something to do every workout, IMO. If you leave one in the tank how do you know you didn't leave 2 or even 3?

I go through the same thing as far as bad lifts after a super heavy week but the following week is when I almost always set PRs.

I was watching a Louie video last night and he was saying if you get a small PR, move on. I can't count this as a PR, but I know I couldn't have done this 3 weeks ago. I guess I'm just treading lightly, I'd rather stack small gains continuously than miss reps and set myself back.

I'm not saying you did anything wrong. I'm just saying I never intentionally leave one in the tank. Neither do I go to failure often on purpose. A PR is a PR. Small gains are what make up big numbers.

If the cardinals were playing hitler I would root for hitler. I hate the cardinals. Not like I'm a Boston fan.

I hate Boston more than you hate the cards. I can gaurantee you that.

1. Yankee fan my whole life
2. Patriots cheated and beat eagles in Super Bowl
3. Have spent some time in Rhode Island ( dad lived there), the New England area has so many stupid band wagoners it's ridiculous.
4. Ex is from Boston.

What you got bro?

I'm not going to argue over who hates who more. I'm a huge Reds fan and they are our *****s. Teams I hate go in this order; Michigan, Cardinals, Steelers.

I guess you can't say r1vals. The hell.

You know Cincy, it irks my tater how often your guys plunk Andrew McCutchen. Dafuq is up wit dat?

Haha, you have the goofiest sayings. Wrong place wrong time? I for one like McCutchen and was rooting for the Pirates to win it all after they took us out.

Rest of what I didn't get to finish yesterday, day:

Cat back pulls: 20x5- Heavy band

Face pulls SS pull aparts: 20/20x4

Chest supported row:
55x8x3
60x8

Tate press: 12x3- 35's

Banded EZ bar curl SS DB hammer curl: 10/10x4

Hip floss, hip flexor stretch, couch stretch, foam roll. The end.

Felt really good to loosen up and the workout in itself was solid. Zoomed from one exercise to the next like a mad man. My work capacity is increasing, so that's a good thing.

I get to squat tmrw without feeling like I got ran over by a truck, so hammering form will be my top priority.

Why so light on rows? And what I'm starting to do is face pull until the cows come home. Nice work my man

Chest supported are harder. I could have gone heavier, but i took 30 sec between sets. I'll hit up some heavier DB rows Saturday.

Thanks.

I see now you did heavy tbar yesterday. But maybe you left some in the tank on these rows? " no such thing as light rows"-

Not too much really. For some reason I can Pendlay a lot, but struggle on strict DB rows. I'll get there, I'll try some hundo's Saturday.

Megatron, Frank Gore, and my SF defense are on bye.....

Not looking good this week.....

Lol, that sounds like me last week. My top 3 picks were on byes. Bad drafting on my behalf.

Edit: and my satellite cut off with a minute and a half to go, with a tie score and the Bengals driving. Cool.

I've got TEN defense against a crippled ram offense this week though, so that might be ok. Chris Johnson against that D might go okay, the receiver is sketchy though.

Dude my team blows. I'm 3-5 now after winning the first 3 games. I fell off the wagon fast. Luckily my division isn't that competitive so I could still make the playoffs and at least get my $50 back.

I've got CJ too. He's been underwhelming for sure.

I'm 5-2, sitting pretty in 1st place with an average of 111.5 points a week.

My mom's nipping at my heels though, it's her league and she doesn't do anything all day except for read fantasy outlooks and make trades. I've never played before lol.

Fantasy football is the tits. This is my 3rd year in a row and I've never missed the playoffs. I need to make something happen.

Bengals in OT. I need a Marvin Jones TD.
