general trend is cortisol goes up thyroid goes down, and vice versa

all yang improving herbs are kidney targeted (in TCM sense), they call it warming herbs mostly used by old people with lacking adrenal hormones as we age....complaints are joint pains and loss of libido.

above are some descriptions regarding their usage, affects and so on,,,for kidney yang deficiency.

now combining them together (eastern perspective since they are the one who started using these herbs and western science proving its affects of raising cortisol and lowering thyroid function) these herbs should be used for people who have symptoms of adrenal insufficiency. Otherwise people with already strong kidneys will either get no effects and waste money or probably suffer from sides.

so use wisely, think of them as vitamin, if you are lacking it will help, if you are healthy it wont do ****

oh yeah cissus will be one of them too (making nails stronger, anti inflammatory, joint health, bone growth, etc) cortisol like actions. I think beta sitosterol takes in place for cortisol, so it mimics cortisol actions while not causing severe side effects, it's complicated since there aren't that many studies like the one from pubmed i posted on all these herbs and its exact mechanism.
