You know what, i had db rows programmed into my next training cycle. But, im going to replace them with Krocs. I might as well take advantage of the huge dbs i have access to. Thanks for the idea Reg!
 
By the way, guys. Depending on how this meet goes..i might switch over to the cube and leave RTS as my pre comp training. I loved RTS, but i wouldnt mind working on a little more hypertrophy work. I think cube offseason and RTS 10-12 weeks pre comp could work out nicely.
 
Yeah, us beginners/intermediates need a little more hypertrophy love.

I did 5/3/1 for like 2 years and grew quite a bit on that. I just wanted to test out the straight strength side of things for a but. I really am only concerned with hypertrophy in my legs and back tbh. My pops past on his chicken legs gene to me and ive had to work my ass off to break free from that curse. I never want to be that guy with a hugely disproportionate upper/lower body. Not only do i have to goal of deadlifting and squatting (lol @ the thought of me having a big squat) a **** load, but i wanna look like i can too.
 
I have the secret to giant legs and calf growth just weight about 400lbs for 15 years then cut that was my approach lol and people ask about my calf all the time
 
Don't even get me started on chicken legs. Had them my whole life and until the past year didn't even look like I trained them. Calves are still baby though.

You are totally correct man. One of my best friends was over weight his entire life (im talkin like 380 freshman year of college) and then once he started lifting and losing weight he is now 240 and his calves are stupid. Huge and veiny. I'd bet some bbs would trade theirs for his.

Baby calves are the worst man. I feel your pain. If i do the cube i'll be doing occlusion training on them every other week on the cube BB day. And it sucks my little bro got my moms genes and just has thick legs and calves. Also high bar squatted 500 as a senior in high school completely raw. Not even wrist wraps.
 
I've always been on the heavier side, and up until recently my calves has always looked huge. Now that my upper legs and a$$ is growing they're looking smaller.
 
Maybe i just need to do the bulking routine Swim posted in Lou's log the other day and get massive calves.
 
Feeling a lot more confident in my deadlift after today. Hit both of my openers easy. Videos will be up on here and instagram later

Edit: and i weighed 211 this morning. Going to eat everything in sight today. Will have little regard for what it is. Then diet will be back on point tomorrow.

Edit: by the way, all pulls were hook grip today. Hopefully that has something to do it why my pulls felt great and it stays that way with consistent hook gripping.

Will work up to 230 on bench and 390 on deads tomorrow. Focusing heavily on keeping my sumo form where it was yesterday.

Then super D hip mobility and some foam/lax ball work.

Then Friday i will either sleep in and get some extra rest or go to the gym for more super D mobility work.

Edit: just got an adjustment by the chiro too. Should be ready to go come Saturday.
 

For the meet i'm assuming?

Bench..i dont really have a set goal. Id love to hit 330+ on my third. Plan is to go 300-315-325-335 depending on how my second attempt goes. And for deads i want 550 on 3rd. Plan is to go 510->530 or 535 -> 550+ on third depending on second.

Ive got some work to do on my hips as well. Thanks man! Yeah im pretty excited for it. Deads anyway. I dont even remember the last time I went for a true 1 rep. Bench is eh whatever. I probably wont get excited about a bench until its 400.

Well today went pretty well. Deads felt really good again. Super D hip mobility and hangs have me feeling really good.

Found a knot in my upper left adductors/groin and worked it out with the pvc roller. I'll probably try to do some sort of mobility stuff Friday before work then its go time Saturday.

Weighed 217 today. Weight Saturday morning shouldn't be a problem.

Eh, either way. 1.94x BW is still pretty damn good man. Id need to be at 415-420 for that same mark. Thats kinda close to my squat max (lol, so sad).

Update: sleeping in tomorrow. Work 11-8. Rolling with my home made roller and lax ball + super D hip stuff when i get off.

Side note: Im always run down once the caffeine wears off. Wish i had a chance for a stim break.
