4/5

First, I will say I had no prior experience with Get Diesel Nutrition, and thus no preconceptions, prior to purchasing this tub. I came across this product after reading through the forums and seeing that loggers were needed for the new formula of JP8x and JP8x Hardcore. I opted to just purchase a tub, rather than be an official logger, but told Chuck Diesel I would still provide a review. Chuck seems like a great guy who really believes in his product and customer experience, so I was confident in my purchase.

After some debate, I chose to buy the Hardcore version, as I really like the effects of yohimbe. Now without further ado, here is my unbiased review, after about one week of using the product.

FLAVOR (5/5)
I'll start with everyone's biggest question: how does it taste? With such a breadth of ingredients, I was bracing for the worst. The more ingredients a pre-workout contains, generally the harder it is to mask those ingredients, so the flavor suffers. Not so with JP8x. The Diesel Punch flavor is one of the best I've tried, reminding me of Tropical Punch Kool-Aid. Very refreshing, especially since the instructions indicate to drink this slowly over the course of 3-10 minutes.

Side note: even my wife likes the flavor, and she is probably the single hardest person to please when it comes to pre-workout taste.

INGREDIENT PROFILE (4/5)
This pre-workout is definitely not a one-trick pony. There is a huge comprehensive ingredient profile, starting with a blend of vitamins and minerals. From there we see a lot of the usual suspects, such as creatine, citrulline malate, beta alanine, l-arginine, acetyl l-carnitine, and a more exotic blend of herbal extracts and nootropics -- even touching on hormone balance with DHEA and Pregnenolone, which are rarely seen in pre-workout.

It's hard to gauge if each ingredient is dosed adequately, as there are separate proprietary blends. Based on a one scoop dose, I'd say the ingredients fall short of clinical doses, but are probably much closer to recommended levels at two full scoops.

ENERGY/FOCUS (4/5)
This might sound like a backhanded compliment, but the energy onset is almost imperceptible. Each 15.4g scoop has roughly 190mg of caffeine, which is a moderately hefty dose, but it kicks in as smoothly as Morgan Freeman's voice. There is just a sudden realization that you feel good and ready to hit the weights. I definitely appreciate this. The energy is also long-lasting, and tapers off nicely.

That being said, JP8x may not satisfy stim-junkies, as this is not a balls-to-the-wall, cocaine-induced burst of energy. But the ingredient profile alone will probably indicate, to most, that this isn't an energy-based product.

The focus is not quite there at one scoop, but definitely kicks in at around 1.5 scoops; very "dialed in" or "in the zone" feeling at that dose. My gym is incredibly loud, but I was able to zero in on my workout, really focusing all of my attention to what I was doing.

STRENGTH (4/5)
Very solid. Reps and weights moved with relative ease, even on heavy 1RM-type training days. The addition of both creatine and beta alanine likely contribute to this, as well as a dose of citrulline malate and taurine. Normally, I use different pre-workouts for upper and lower body part workouts, because I have different strength or stamina requirements for each. The JP8X handled all of my workouts equally well, so it seems suitable for any kind of training.

SIDE EFFECTS (3.5/5)
First, no crash or harsh comedown. Some pre-workouts hit so hard right off the bat that a horrendous crash is all but inevitable. As I mentioned above, the energy tapers off gradually, thanks to the added B-vitamins.

Upon higher dosing (22g or about 1.5 scoops) I experienced stomach distress, which came on about halfway through my workout. Thinking maybe it was an anomaly, I dosed exactly the same for my next workout and the same stomach ache occurred. I then went back down to about 17g (just over 1 scoop) and had no problems.

I mentioned the stomach distress to Chuck Diesel in the Forum and he suggested the Antioxidant Blend, which contains ginger, might be the culprit, so dose accordingly and maybe work your way up if need be, or take with food.

MIXABILITY (3/5)
Definitely needs a shaker cup, as even at just one scoop, it's a fairly sizable dose. Some sediment and floaters, even using the recommended water levels. Not a deal breaker by any stretch, but worth mentioning.

VALUE/FINAL VERDICT (4/5)
I snagged the tub of JP8X Hardcore for about $33, which comes to less than one dollar per serving. Given the host of ingredients, the flavor, and the results/effects, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better value. I can confidently recommend this pre-workout to anyone looking to try something new, or just want to get more out of each workout. Get some.

5/5

I'm no stranger to Get Diesel Nut supplements and I've been using this brands products for about 12 years and I've gotten good results from the products that I've used and when I was contacted by Get Diesel's owner Chuck to see if I wanted to try out the two new versions of their PW JP8X HARDCORE and
JP8X. I was more than happy to try both versions and give feedback on my experience with both of these versions. This is the link to the log thread.

I had mentioned to Chuck that I do not like to use the same PW or stimulants more than once or twice a week so I would be following up in my log each time I used it and I would use each version for about 6 workouts and then do my final review. This is my review for JP8X HARDCORE.

Taste- 5/5 For people who have used previous versions of JP8X Hardcore this is a 360 degree turn in flavor and you will wonder why CHUCK didn't just do this kind of flavoring in the past instead of the natural flavor and stevia which DID NOT mask the ingredient Sulbutiamine that made the previous version taste so bad and actually kept people who liked the product's effects from purchasing it again. This new version has a nice natural fruit punch flavor to it that's enjoyable to drink.

Taste- 4/5- This taste rating is for the people who've never tried any version of JP8X in the past and are use to all these other flavored PW on the market that don't use Sulbutiamine in their formula. You will get a slight lingering taste as your drinking this PW and that's from the ingredient that I mentioned which is impossible to mask completely so anyone new to this PW will know now what that slight after taste is coming from but it's still very good tasting PW.

Ingredient Profile- 4.5/5 This is a proprietary blend of about 15 gm of powder in each serving and it has a lot of different ingredients but they all seem to come together to make this formula work EXTREMELY WELL.
Some people will look at the ingredients and say it's a kitchen sink formula with under dosed ingredients but I say it's a kitchen sink with a MARBLE FINISH and when you use this PW it will have your muscles resembling a
hard MARBLE FINISH.;)

Mix Ability- 5/5 - I mix all my PW in about 20-24 oz of water and I never had an issue of anything floating or sticking to my shaker cup and it always mixed up smoothly.

Training Intensity 5/5- This made you want to attack what ever you had planned and it also made you feel relentless on your sets where you didn't want to quit until your complete sets were accomplished. The two ingredients that make you feel this way is the DHEA and the Pregnenolone which are not in the regular JP8X and make the JP8X Hardcore just a little stronger than the regular version.

Endurance- 5/5 - I never ran out of energy and my workouts are usually on the long side because I do a good amount of volume and I always like to finish with a good 30 min ab workout out.

Recovery - 4.5/5- Recovery between sets is a lot quicker than other PW that I've used due to the strong dose of Sulbutiamine which helps with clean focused energy and breathing and you can really feel this if your doing super sets.

Strength- 4/5- You will feel stronger on this PW due to the combination of ingredients in this formula which work well together to increase your drive to either lift more or do more reps.

Explosive Power- 4/5- This is one of the reasons a lot of power lifters tend to like the old version of JP8X Hardcore because the energy comes on slowly and builds up as you continue training and it does give you a surge of power on your heavy lifts and the new version of JP8X HC does exactly the same.:)

Pumps- 4/5- I rotate my PW each an every workout so I'm use to using many different products and lately most of the PW give you very big water looking pumps that come on quickly due to the glycerol mono that's in their ingredient profile. JP8X HC doesn't have glycerol mono or agmatine sulfate in the profile but the ingredients that are in there bring on hard vascular pumps that will last somewhat long after your workout but if you are one who has a hard time getting a pump you could just add what ever pump ingredients you want to the formula to enhance it even more, such as agmatine, glycerol mono, citrulline malate, or any of the popular pump products that are on the market such as HEMAVOL, NOOPUMP, or any other one that you might like.

Energy- 5/5- For me this comes on very smooth and lasts right through out my workout and what I like is that there was no crash later in the day and the energy didn't die out on me 1/2 way into my workout.

Focus- 5/5- This another KEY effect of this PW and as you continue into your workout the focus seems to build even stronger where you have a good mind muscle connection that you feel zoned in during the set that your into.

Overall- 4.8/5- I definitely recommend giving this version of JP8X HC a try and if your a previous user of the old version and you liked it but didn't enjoy the taste then you will LOVE this version and it works as well as the old version. If you are sensitive to yohimbe bark extract which is in this formula I would recommend trying the regular version of JP8X which doesn't have it in the formula and I found that version to be also very effective and I will reviewing that version also but the yohimbe bark in JP8X HC did not make me fell jittery or have my heart pumping like crazy which some PW or stimulants will do when they are over dosed with yohimbe.

One other thing I wanted to mention was that the last version of Hardcore had 1,3 in the formula and most other PW that have been reformulated do not come close in effects to their 1,3 versions but JP8X Hardcore comes very close to delivering the same effects that made the old version super Hardcore and one of my favorite PW that had 1,3 but this new version is definitely a keeper for me.
