Journey to Elite

I keep a tub of Gatorade powder in my gym bag along with some BCAA. Carbs are in the 250-300 range depending on the day (this will go up when I get back into gear frequently), protein ~250-270, and ~100g fats.

Similar macros to mine. Just gotta change up the timing. Thanks!

I can officially say that my issue is no longer grip as I was able to get the weight off of the floor relatively easily, but I lost positioning on the first one (didn't pull it towards me fast enough) and got stuck at the knee on the second one. I've been doing the Duffin hanging from a bar for the past couple of weeks and I can tell my grip has improved as I can support myself for longer. Ran out of time and did some quick ab work to keep hammering away at my psoas.

Sad news: Sabo's ripped near the mid-foot. Not too happy considering they're not that old.

Ive had mine since January of this year and the loop for the metatarsal strap ripped off on me like 3 weeks ago. I was pretty pissed about it. All the reviews i read said they were supposed to be pretty durable, apparently not.

I guess they rushed the production while they were backordered last year.

Cool. That's what these are.

The sole got slick but it took over a year for it to do so.

For a fellow flat-footed mofo..I bought these:

It's the only arch support that doesn't murder me and my knees are less caved when I'm standing. I even squat in them.

I'm flat-footed as well, but I've yet to need the arch support. I guess the years of running and jumping rope strengthened the tissue enough.

That's annoying.

That's even more annoying.

Found a pair of Asics wrestling shoes for half the price and feel fantastic. I'll be using them on Sunday to squat.

I'll have to look into this once my right one blows out. I wonder if maxbarbell would honor some type of warranty since its been less than 5 months. Doubt it.

Volume seems like it's really high, but this was a split session with about 90 mins between the rows and JMs. Bench is still improving, but it was a grinder. I feel fantastic, though, and I'll be taking a sexy ass Overkill shirt for a ride next week. An unfortunate aspect of losing weight is my gear doesn't fit right now, but this shirt is snug and should be nasty.

2 ply chest and 3 ply arms. Had to use a crowbar to get it on and a squat rack to get it off lol.

Damn. That's a mean shirt. I think this is just two ply everything. I use the word just loosely as I can tell it's going to bite. How low were you able to take it?

It was a brutal shirt. It was in my neck the whole time and I could barely touch 550 to a two board.

The transition point from the tuck to the flare. The chest plate is small so if you hit it right it fly's and the cut of the arms makes ******* smooth.

Mine is about 2-3" off of the chest. Once I get it past that, I can almost always ******* the weight.

Funny thing happens when you wear gear that fits properly: you start hitting PRs again. I didn't even realize it until after I was done that I've never done 555 for a double in just briefs. Obviously, the 595 was a PR as well and I'm thrilled to be getting this finally especially since I was 213.6 in clothes and wrestling shoes today.

So far, this volume phase for upper body is going really well and I'm feeling really good. Even after hitting my big PRs yesterday, I woke up feeling fresh and ready to train. I've decided to kick up the arm work as I need more mass there to keep my bench rolling.

The more and more I use the Jack briefs, the more I realize how much they were built for my style of squat. The hip support is fantastic and I love how I never have hip pain with them. Both the rack pulls and lunges were awful today and I will be feeling it tomorrow.

Diet update: down to 212 in the morning. I'm going to be bumping up the kcals to slow down the process just a tad as I'm dropping weight a little too quickly. Poor me, right?

Noob question: what's the deal with squat briefs? What do you mainly get out of them? I know you cant use a suit, but if they really help with keeping your hips warm/support, etc and you can use them in comp i'd be interested in picking a pair up.

These briefs can't be used in a competition unless multiply is allowed. They're not like a knee sleeve of compression. They're much thicker and restrictive. As with all gear, you have to learn how to use it properly or you get nothing. I only use my briefs instead of both briefs and suit as this is speed work and it would take too much time to hit depth in briefs and suit. A good pair of multiply briefs can give you 150-200# of carryover if they're appropriately fitted and used correctly. Same with bench shirts, but those can give even more carryover depending on the number of ply on the chest and sleeves.

Interesting. I don't really have too much interest into getting into gear just yet, but maybe someday. I've got quite a bit of work to do raw before i think about getting into it. Thanks for the reply Rodj.

This shirt bit...hard. That being said, it's a fun shirt to use. Set up wasn't that bad as the chest plate was a little wider than the Metal shirts I've used, but still great support. Felt solid despite being light right now and not taking heavy weight for awhile. I had the break in the middle because I had to train a client, but it worked out because it allowed me to refocus and hammer accessories. Oh, DB JM press is awful. That is all.

Hammer grip on the DB JM or how did you do it?

Took 405 for a ride and need more upper back rigidity. Part of the issue was that I hit the bar on the rack and it moved the bar too low on the delts. I tried to recover, but it didn't happen. That being said, I will get it very soon. The heavy ass DB BSS were awful. I must do them again.

You do those SG SLDLs from a dead stop? If so, wow.

And random question, is there any benefit in using the abductor/adductor machine?

No I do them like a normal SLDL but with a snatch grip. It makes it much harder with that grip width and really forces the upper back to maintain position.

Maybe if you have to rehab the area, but not much beyond that.
