Jim's Training to Become a Human Tank!

Lookup ELDOA L5-S1. It'll help the impingement of the nerve, but not sure what it'll do for the herniation.

Back hurts, a lot.

Probably from doing yard work today, it was also pretty sore this morning from swimming yesterday.

God damn it.

I had 2 herniated discs bro. It'll suck for a while but you'll get back in there. Just keep trucking on man

I was out of work and the gym for a few months. I had herniated and desiccated discs with loss in disk height and spinal stenosis. I obviously still have spinal stenosis. Anyways, I had an epidural so I was able to move easier and sit without sciatic pain and rehab

I saw that on your log earlier today, just wait.

I squatted 135 last week and it didn't hurt. It won't be long now (although I still can't even almost pick any weight up off the ground yet).

Compression fracture at T12, bulging disc at L5. L5 and S1 are right on top of each other. You can't even see the foramen at L5 and S1 due to the curvature of my lumbar spine. Found a good doc though PCP, Athletic Trainer and chiropractor all in one =). Adjusted me today, go back Wednesday for follow up and rehab exercises to correct the curvature of my spine. Once that's corrected I should be able to do deads and Squats without injuring myself every other year lol

God, that sounds terrible. At least you'll be able to get back at it soon.

No joke he said he'll have me back in the gym in 2 weeks. Crazy

Don't worry Jim. Granted, my back injury was much more minor, but I had to work at 275 for a couple months, and then one day broke through and hit 315. Maybe a month and a half later I hit 500.

Yeah I'm trying to build as big as a gap on you as possible bc I'm gonna need it!

Yeah, all I can do is keep making progress.

Lol, I've never been a great dead lifter so that is a pretty solid gap right there.

Was gonna go train arms in the garage tonight (arms?!).

Closed the bedroom door with my wallet and everything else inside it, and now I'm locked out of my bedroom. Going to be paying some locksmith too much money just so I can sleep tonight.

And definitely missed the training while I attempted to unlock the door.

Wow what a night lol, you end up getting in on your own?

Nope, and the locksmith never showed up either.

Dude told me he'd be on his way at around 1 when I called, stayed up til 4 waiting. Called a new locksmith, so hopefully this one actually shows up.

Wow.
That's an interesting night, and a really ****ty time I'm sure standing there waiting

Hopefully that gets figured out soon

Yeah, and its gonna cost an assload to I bet.

I would lose it if they charged more for an "emergency" call. Certainly not an emergency response time.

Never had this happen to me with a lock but with an appliance breakdown (furnace in winter) that needed immediate repair the extra charge was absurd

We finally got a locksmith out there, it took this guy about 45 minutes to show up and 3 to unlock the door with an airbag and a screwdriver.

$180.

I'm definitely in the wrong business. Plus, since I have my own security license I might be able to buy one of those airbags (in TX you have to be licensed).

What was the airbag for?

Most bedroom door knobs aren't as tough as exterior doors. Probably could have knocked the handle off and opened it with a screwdriver, then replaced the doorknob for under $30. I've even been able to do this on some exterior doors.

Get some separation between door and frame to depress the latch.

My door knob was one of the pick proof ones, and I went and bought and installed it specifically so my brother couldn't do what you're talking about.....

You're a human tank and didn't just knock that ****er down? :( I'm not even mad, I'm disappointed...

Disappointment... deal with it

Excuses! Break it down!

Well, doctors appointment was canceled because I didn't have a referral from my PCP.

Which they didn't tell me I needed last month when I made the appointment (because why would they do that?).

This is part of the reason why I hate doctors. I'm not going to reschedule it, its too big of a waste of my money at this point.

wtf you going to do then?

Squatted 225 on Monday without any pain

Could've pushed it a little farther but I'm going to take it slowly.

Also did some light SLDL without pain (95#).

Herder saw the video on my instagram.

Great news man, and glad to see you're being smart about it. You'll be back stronger than ever in no time.

Hopefully so, we'll see how these next few weeks go.

Also, thinking about buying a DL suit in a few months for when I can get back to serious DLing.

Little restoration action?

Awesome on the painless squats

Yeah, although I don't expect to do too much off the bat. I intend to drive it fairly regularly (plus it would look good in my driveway next to my black '89 Silverado)

Things are looking pretty good right now, the back is still sore in the mornings but usually loosens up after I've been moving around for a while.

Sounds like you're really close to being back to 100%. Morning tightness is pretty much par for the course for me as well.

We'll see, I'm hoping I can continue to add some weight for squats.

Not sure if I'm ready to try regular DL yet though...

Maybe light from 18" and work your way toward the floor.
