Jim: Performance is King Log.

Hey watched ur deads on YT, thought your hips were just a tad high. Not by much and less on some reps, but I think you could get some more power if you got them a little lower. Good training and strong work bro.

Thanks man, I used to have them lower and rodja informed me that setting them that way killed my leverages.

I'll keep plugging away and try to figure out where to set them to be strongest though, thanks for the tip.

Rodja is a lot more experienced than me, perhaps I am mistaken.

I definitely wouldn't say that Randoja, I've seen some ridiculously strong low hip pullers. I'm trying to figure out where exactly I need my hips to be the most efficient, I used to have them LOW. Like oly squat low, I"ll figure it out. And I'll definitely keep what you said in mind, after this meet I'm going to have time to figure out where is the most technically advantageous for me.

Today's update:

Speed Squat:

Warmup: Foam Roll Lower, HF Stretch, LAX Ball Glute, work up to 225

Pre: 1 Enhanced, 3 Prime, 2 Anabeta
Intra: Amino IV (1 scoop of each flavor, tastes phenomenal that way, as if it wasn't good enough already lol)

Work: 275 x 2 x 8

They were alright, was having some issues getting to depth on the first rep of most of the sets. Widened my feet out to the competition stance, which I haven't hit for awhile and the hips were trying to lock me up. I'll do some mobility work and get that **** straightened out before I hit my opener for a triple next week (looking at ~375-385)

Good Mornings: 225 x 6 x 2, 205 x 6 x 2

a1. GHR: BW x 10 x 3
a2. Front Rack Lunge: 65 x 16, 85 x 16 x 2

Pallof Press: Black x 12 x 3 (per side)

Fast paced workout, the video of the first 5 sets (and 2 warmups, 185/225) and good mornings is uploading to youtube right now.

It'll be up in ~30 minutes.

Looks like it never processed. The Miley Cyrus music was too loud and YouTube denied the upload due to copyright laws, possibly.

Sub'd to learn, per Sean's reco. Will initiate my own log once I recover from this brutal case of bronchitis/sinusitis, and get back to the gym, where I largely confine myself to the purple, pink, and neon green DBs.

It's like I've seen this post somewhere before......hmmm

You trolling me already?

I don't know you well enough to give you original material yet, Jim. That doesn't mean I wont reach around fer ya.

Sean did warn me that you are a dick, lol. J/k. Me too.

Damn, who is the young gal, repping all that weight? Super impressed. How much do those bumpers weigh, 10 KGs? I only use iron at my gym.

That's my wife. Her weight was 105 for the bench, and 115 for boards. The bumpers on hers were 25#.

I typically annotate the weights on the video, but I've been feeling awfully lazy this week lol.
That's jim..

Got some comedians in here today.

I'll fight them with you, Jim.

To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women...

Quite impressive for an average size woman, and she's rather petite (I am assuming no more than a buck 5, and probably less). Real nice set up in advance of the benching. She should cue you. ;)

Well done, friend, your choice in women as well as the coaching.

Agree here ^. That is impressive. Even with 25's, her form and reps are purty, more so than the women I see at my gym, she has a good partner. Whomever he may be.

Good crowd tonight, good crowd.
Who's side are you on?
Oh, and did I mention Jim's log?
You didn't. But I forgive you.

Woah, what an amazing audience

A classic
You calling me old?

Lol, she's 5'5" ~115lbs. I recently got her setting up that way to stay tighter. It's even more impressive when you consider she has a torn labrum in her shoulder.

She'll be setting state records in December

Yeah, I wonder who that guy is.

Her opener in December will be 115#. The only issue is it goes downhill fast, she'll hit 125 for reps but will mess up the technique with 135. The shoulder starts getting untucked, elbows flare, and it rides up towards her face.

Who's side are you on?

The winning side, always. Benedict Arnold Magnusson Schwarzenegger over here.

EDIT: Yep, that joke is gonna miss the mark, I can already tell.

Did a body day today.

Pre: 1.5 enhanced, 3 Prime, 2 Anabeta
Intra: Amino IV

Standing OHP: 95 x 6, 135 x 4, 135 x 5 x 2 drop 115 x 0

Smoked lol. Almost passed out a couple times during these.

Inc. DB Bench: 50 x 10, 65 x 10 x 2

Felt sick sitting down for these (fasted again, kept dry heaving before the set)

a1. Kroc Row: 75 x 12 x 3
a2. Pullup: BW x 5, NG: BW x 6 x 2

Leg Ext: 120 x 10, 140 x 10, 160 x 10 x 2

Poundstone curl: Bar x 30

Jim you ever use a super yoke? What's a decent weight x distance?

I did 470 x 50' (I think that's the right distance) after a 500# conans wheel for 85'. That's the farthest I've done though.

It was a medley.

Sounds heavy, I think I did a 300 w/ a low start position and it was hard. First time trying, wanted to know what was decent.

Yokes are rough man, before the meet I did a 400 for like 10yds, and it wasn't a good experience.

Murdered my traps and neck musculature the most, check out my log for the vid if you have any pointers.

My friend Chris loading the 400# stone I made, he weighs ~243#.

Plus, epic celebration for a +70 pound PR.

Big pr. Thought he was gong to hit his head on the table for a sec. Cool stuff

Lol, the point is to get as close to the platform as possible so you don't have to walk with the stone in your lap.

I told him a month ago when I made it that he could do it, but he didn't sack up and try until Marshall made him today. (for those unaware, I'm talking about Marshall White, who is a pro Strongman)

Speaking of weight, if I recall hour goal was 185 this year? If so, you killed it man. Good job

So weight goals.....is this the idea of "a bigger person can move more weight because they are bigger"?

Precisely! A bigger muscle always has the potential to be a stronger muscle, but so, too, more mass also moves more weight, even if it's not lean body mass. Powerlifters and strongmen call all that fat and bloat "leverage". I forget the specific properties of "leverage" but I've seen its magic firsthand.

Ah ha. Makes perfect sense. I was a fat kid (5'4 280) (not calling you guys fat btw) when I was 13 and could squat about 320 back then with zero weight training before that. I started football in Jr. High and they threw us in the weight room and said lift add much add you can lol. Be it leverage, or carrying around more weight making me stronger, it did work I suppose lol.

Now in 2009 when I weighed 300 I was weak as shyt from being a lazy slob after a few knee surgeries lol.

I never had a doubt, I'm looking for ~220 November of next year (maybe more if I cross the hormonal barrier)

Herder got it.

But, to expound on it in my case, I don't ever intend to get too sloppy. The goal is to be as strong as possible, but I still need to maintain a certain amount of speed and agility to be competitive in certain events.

And, I obviously still want to look like I workout lol.

Also, because we're asking questions today. At what age would YOU start cycling AAS (even just DS/PH) if your goal was to be competitive at a national level in strength athletics (be it BB, PL, or Strongman)?

21? 25? Even earlier?

Well Jim, I think ph and ds will be fine now for you with proper therapies and such. For aas I think waiting until you hit a huge wall. You've made huge strides in natty training and have reached your believed natty max potential, or near it.

Just my input. I think starting aas for you don't be for years

Still think you should wait for ph as it seems you make strides in your training weekly
