Once the facts are established in cases like this, there should be no appeal (the only circumstance for denying appeal, IMO) - the perpetrators should be declared outlaws - as in, outside the protection of the law: anything done to them would be the righteous retribution of the community, and no penalty would adhere thereto.

Then, they should be placed in stocks in an area with lots of foot traffic; their fates would stand as warnings to others of similar inclination.

But then, I have a daughter...if we won't stand up for our children (as individuals, as a community, as a civilisation), then we're less than animals - no matter what our pretentions.

well said. i have a daughter and a son. if anyone ever molested or raped either of them, who really cares what happens to me? i don't think i could live with myself if i just let the courts decide what happened to the guy. i'm not so sure that i'd torture him, but it'd be the end of him.

I don't get how the guy gets screwed over the worst since it does take two to do the dirty deed after all.

I favor true equality and think both parties should get punished. Although you are right about age but there has to be some line drawn. Unfortunately, it must be with age. If it went by maturity, some people would never be consenting age :D
I favor equality too, but that's just not the way things work on a practical level. Two people get drunk and sleep together. The next morning if the woman regrets it, many people have no problem calling that rape. Few people would look at it and see it simply as a case of two consenting adults who did something stupid with equal blame on each. This kind of thing happens fairly regularly on college campuses. It's hypocrisy and it's wrong, but it's the way life works.

I know plenty of girls that got **** faced at a party and slept with another drunk guy and call it rape that is wrong. butI do know other girls who have been slipped a pill and then a completely sober guy will have sex with her now that is rape. Fine line if you ask me

There's no fine line there whatsoever. There's a big, big, big difference between willingly intoxicating yourself beyond the point of good judgement and being drugged without knowing it. The first is a choice, a stupid one but a choice. The second isn't.

Won't **** happen to her. Then I just read today she has a 6million dollar book deal in the works. I really believe this is just internet rumors but whatever. I know that the DA has decided not to bring charges against her. I wonder if this was a whole ploy by the couple not just the future bride. How many of you bet this marriage will falter in less than 6months?

Oh. I thought it was some personal attack.

I'm a fan of personal responsibility. As such, whenever I get smashed at parties and do really stupid ****, I realize it is my own fault. Being smashed and realized you slept with a guy who looked good the night before does not a rape make. Rape is having sex with her against her will. If this is a problem, she should cut back on the beers. Besides a good, strong buzz is best anyway.

I personally don't even hit on girls that have a drop of alcohol in them. Its just not smart anymore.

However if a guy has a good lawyer, she'll be ruined in the courts. These guys know what a real rape is from some girl who regrets nailing the guy with smelly balls. I remember recently hearing how 70% of rape cases are eventually dropped because the girl lied about it. In that case, I'd favor sending her to prison for the amount of time it would be for the man.

Stay safe my brothers.

I agree. I am just saying sometimes girls are stupid and willingly get drunk and then get taken advantage off and they don't know the next morning if they were raped or not. The girls in that case are still responsible. For instance a few years back at this campus at a frat party a girl got **** faced and then three guys banged her one at a time while the others held her up. I mean she never said no. Then they drew all over her with majic markers and left her in the bathroom. Even though she never said no and she willingly got drunk IMO that still qualifies as some form of rape. This is why I said fine line. Hell I think we all have one or two chicks in the closet that we had too much and nailed and we just face the music and laugh about it. I think women shoudl have the same outlook and it shoudl not be considered rape and that the girls should be punished if they say it was.

I know it's disturbing. I live in Texas though and they have to post a sign at their front door declaring that they are registered sex offenders.

I remember when I was stationed out in SanDiego and they came out with the "sex offender" database they showed a map of the city, and they were all over the place.
Yeah it was the same way in KY. Every week in the newspaper there would be the names of the registered sex offenders who had moved into the county, and have a picture of them and their current address so everyone knew...
