Costco usually has the best price on jerky were Im from but making your own is deffinately viable.

Find a butcher or meat shop and you can usually buy in bulk for a good deal.

Just don't walk in hungry, I always buy more than intended lol.

make your own! super easy and cheap. maybe 30 mins of prep time, rest is just oven on low heat and air dry.
