Jdg's 26 Week Prep

Thanks guys. It felt heavy, but never felt like I couldn't get the weights back up.:D

Went out to eat for my son's 14th birthday party last night. His choice was Chinese. Before I went I was at 2800 cals and 290 carbs, so I know I was well over the 4000 mark again :D. Funny thing is I have been at these calls all week and my weight has stayed the same?

My middle son's mom is supposed to come to town to see him this afternoon so I don't know what time I will make it to the gym today, but I will get there. Gotta hit back and bis!!
 
Not a very productive workout today...

Wide-grip weighted Pull-ups- 5 sets 3------- supposed to be 10
BW+ 25# 8 x 3

Seated close grip rows- increased 2 reps each set
220 4 x 10

DB shrugs- 2 sets 15 each weight
85's, 90's, 95's

Barbell curls
80 6 x 10

Overhead Double-bi cable curls
2 x 20

Well my buddy moved back to town that I used to lift with and decided to go with me today. He talked through most of the workout so my rest periods were all screwed up. I forgot to warm up my elbows like last week and my left one flared up pretty bad, so I had to quit at 5 sets. I think I am done with pull-ups, or at least weighted pull-ups for awhile.
So needless to say, I got the work done, just not like I am used to. It doesn't help that he has been out of the gym for quiet awhile, for various reasons. So he is just now getting back into and it is hard to keep him on track.
 
At least he's got you around to push him. It can be so easy to lose "it", or at least it has been for me in the past.

That's true. After rereading my post I sounded a little selfish haha. I just got used to lifting by myself again and it is a whole lot easier to get things done than with someone else. At least until he gets back in his 'groove' .

I can understand the selfishness too, though. I've had friends ask to workout with me and I tell them, "I don't have time to include you in my routine, but I'm willing to help any other way you may need".

Ya I have had a few guys ask if I wanted to start training with them since I started lifting by myself and have turned them down. My buddy that moved back knows what he is doing, hell he used to be bigger than me!! He got married and moved out of town early this summer and things had been crazy for him so he didn't lift much and ate like crap. Well he's still got a lot going on and I guess thought we should discuss it during our training haha. It'll get better I am sure..

Had to cut short everything to day. I made it to 305 on my bench and had to back off because my elbow was hurting to bad. It's weird instead of tennis elbow it's higher like where the brachioradialis connects to the humerus?? It didn't seem to hurt to bad doing dips, but didn't want to chance it doing them weighted. So I just did them a little slower, concentrated on the negatives and contraction at the top. I iced it as soon as I got home and will be taken 600mg ibuprofen every 4-6 hours. Tomorrow is leg day, and then I may take a few days off to let it heal.
 
You mean on the inside, closer to the bicep?

What an awkward spot for pain on bench.
 
Ya I know. I irritated it yesterday doing weighted pull ups. But it didn't bother me until I got fairly heavy on the bench?? Funny thing is it wasn't bad doing dips? The only difference is I flare my elbows out doing bench where I keep my elbows close to me doing dips to hit the tris better.
 
Ice and a tight band right below the elbow helps relieve the discomfort. Pic below is the one I use when that happens

Yes it sucks. But like right now, it is not even bothering me. But as soon as I get to using it for lifting, it aggravates the hell out of it!! It gets in the way a little bit when lifting but may try to wear my band next in the next couple days when I lift. I am doing legs today so I am not worried about it.

Thanks my back is healed, not sure about my elbow. That's what happens when you start lifting heavy twice a week. Something was going to give!

I should hear about my test by Wednesday afternoon sometime..
 
Legs today!! Calves were still a little sore from Saturday but I hit them anyway.

395 felt easy tonight. I finished with 395 Saturday and figured I would try again, but apparantly should have went heavier. 405 x 5 just around the corner!!!

Felt very strong today!! Was lifting with my buddy today,so got to really push him. Bet he will be sore tomorrow :D

Got good news and bad news. Good news is I made it to the gym and my arm didn't bother me. Bad new #1 is I still haven't got my results for my PTA exam and it is driving me freakin crazy!! #2 is I left the gym feeling like I could of done twice what I did :-/ Not sure why, I pushed it, just didn't feel like I accomplished much. Oh well, I'll make up for it tomorrow....

Added in Rack pulls and dropped the pull-ups. Also we had to wait to do the pulls so we did seated rows first today.

Seated rows v-grip- 4 sets 8
240 4 x 8
Again I meant to put the pin in the 220 slot and didn't realize it was on 240 until I go sat back. I figured I was already so up so I pulled it. Heavy! But felt good!!

Even though I haven't done these in a long time they seemed pretty easy? My buddy is about 3 inches taller than me so I was pulling the bar from about even with my knee caps. I'll deffinately start heavier and go heavier next time.

Everything felt light today. Even the shrugs felt like I should have went heavier. Things are starting to really kick in, just if I could put some more size on.
Weight is holding around 207-209, even with 4000cals a day. I did start eating a half of avacodo with breakfast and got some coconut oil today to help increase my fats. My brother seems to think I have sped up my metabolism and am actually building some while burning some fat? Who knows? We will see what happens the next couple weeks.
 
Appetite is finally increasing. I had 50g Karbolyn during the last 20 mins of my workout. Came home and ate 2 cups cooked rice with 10oz chicken which was 40mins ago. I am hungry again so I am eating one of my favorite cheats. 2 scoops of Cinnamon bun protien, 10 oz milk, and 2 1/2 cups frosted wheats. Which equals to around 140g carbs :)

Ohhhh no! I'm so sorry!! Is there any way to get a job in the same field just not as a physical therapist? Then after more time working in that area will help you past the test! Don't give up though!!

Yeah work in the medical field! Hospital, doctors office, or physical therapist office. Just getting your foot in the door close to the area you'd like to be! You may not get to help them directly but God will use you to impact their lives! You have a passion and a gift to help!...Plus who knows where it could lead! Then as $ gets better and you feel comfortable- you can retry!
 
I live in a pretty small town but I will look around and see if anyone is hiring in one of those place Kat, If not I will just take whatever I can for now.

I am looking into getting my associates as a physical therapy assistant or some sort of associates in the med field. Just starting to look I to it with a college. Something to where I can use PE degree so I can transfer some credits. Teaching is driving me insane. That could be though because I am in a very challenging school.

Thanks man, I appreciate the words really!! I only have two more tries at the test. I can take them every 3 months... right now besides drinking a few too many tonight , I am not sure what I am going to do. The longer I am out of school the harder it is getting to take these exams.
I had thought about doing what you are and using my credits to apply to another career but not sure what I would do. The first thing is getting a job right now. We did some financial 'movements' for lack of better words to get us through until now, hopeing I would start working. So I have got to do something soon.

Haha, little: thanks man!! LOL No really I was. I was 155-160ish for a long time!! Didn't think i would ever break that, and now sit around 205-210 most of the time ;)

Good new this morning. I was at a big car dealership here in town talking to a friend at the front destk. She was giving me an application and the assist man. overheard us talking. So he pulled me back in his office. After 20 minutes of talking and an informal interview he said to get my app filled out and turn it in. On my way out the door the General Manager stopped me again. He asked what I enjoyed doing that there were a few different openings. He then said the same thing, to get my app in today, and then he would get an interview set up pretty quick for me. :D
