The Axe Man Cometh!!
Was a little down the other day when I hit the gym. During that session a lot of memories about **** in my past came up and how I somehow got through it. The gym got me through some of the hardest and darkest times in my life. Just the weights and the grind, one more rep, one more rep and the rest of the world disappears and you leave with peace of mind that was earned.
On the way home a song hit my playlist and inspired me somewhat. I reworked the lyrics a bit and it might be crap but I figured I'd post it here. This is a rough rough draft which I might work on more but hey who knows...

Iron Therapy
I don't talk much, I don't sit still Got too many ghosts and a heart to kill I don't do shrinks, I don't do pills I lift through the pain 'til the silence chills
Iron and chalk dust, that's my prayer When the world gets heavy, I load it there I grip that bar, let the muscle scream And leave my pain in the mirror's gleam
I need iron therapy, baby, give me weight Let the barbell bless me, let the struggle set the pace Every rep's a memory I burn to ash I lift through the heartache, I don't look back No shrink can fix what this iron can free So I lift... I lift for me I lift for me
Sweat on my shirt, chalk on my hands Gym's been my church and my only stand I've lost good friends, I've buried some dreams But I found peace in the clang and the steel
The weight don't judge, don't ask why Just gives me space to let it all fly My past is loud, but this heartbeat's louder Pain don't last when you're chasing the power
I will need iron therapy, baby, full release Let the plates rip open all my quiet grief No doctor knows what this bar can heal Every rep I grind, that's how I deal Don't need no answers, just one more set That's where I find the peace I get
It ain't about hidin' It's about lettin' go Letting the ghosts fade In the sweat and the grind
I need iron therapy, the kind that bites Steel and sweat, salvation in the dead of night The only drug that ever set me free Was the clang of the plates and the fire in me So I lift... not to hide But to finally rise
Chalk, sweat, and a barbell hymn That's my church That's where the healing begins
