Insomniacs Unite

Alternately, start mt biking, marathon running, doing bjj, etc. Exhausting yourself is a great way to improve sleep.

Have any of you tried mulungu?

No I haven't, but I probably will.
Thanks.
I had a few tubs sent to me like 2 years ago, full disclosure , I used my rep pay for the product, it had pros and cons. For someone with more willpower then me it would be more productive for sure.

I used the first tub straight through, it made me relaxed and fall asleep easier, but didn't help me stay asleep.

On suggestion, I mixed up a second dose and kept it by my bed a few times and if I woke up, I drank it. And it helps go back to sleep for sure.

I had a hard time make this a routine, I didn't like the taste, taste normal doesn't bother me but it kinda dries my mouth out and then I need a bunch of extra water. No1 else I talked with got the dry mouth, but I did for some reason. The taste itself is earthy, you could probably mix it with a sleepy tea, or a herbal caffeine free tea, other than that the only thing I can think to mix it with is water. Eventually I just kinda stopped using it. I still got half a tub. I guess il have some tonight lol.

If you can get into a good routine of using it, 👍

What 3 medications do you take now? All 3 at once?

Here I am…up at 3am again.
Sorry, I meant 2 at once now. I’m on gabapentin and mirtazapine, I wanna stop them since it’s messing up my sleep architecture.

There was a point about 5 years ago I was taking 5 at once

Damn, that's too bad. MK677 has been great for my sleep, which was fine before, but I might try 3z when I'm done with the 677.

I have a Garmin and my "body battery" hasn't been over 35 for 4 weeks.

I’m too scared of interactions and never waking up to mix anything lol

What benefits specifically relating to sleep do you notice from it? Better dreams, sleep quality, less waking up at night, easier time falling asleep?

That’s so unlikely to happen, the only time a medical problem has ever happened to me from taking too many sedatives was after I got vaccinated one day. I felt fine and my friends invited me out to the bar later and I drank, then after I went home I took my sleep meds on top of the alcohol. About an hour after doing that I fainted because my blood pressure dropped too low. I was unconscious for half an hour and when I woke up I was covered in my puke.

If your doctor says your fine then you are fine to combine drugs.

I never remember dreams, and generally sleep easily and well, but occasionally wake up. On MK677, I don't wake up, I tend to wake up in the morning in the same position I went to sleep in, and sleep is just overall feeling way deeper. And I am dreaming pretty hard, which is not something I can generally pinpoint.

I take melatonin and zma every night. 2 nights only that, 2 nights 50 mg Trazadone, 2-3 night 1/2 .25 Xanax

I think you are maybe being a little flippant in this discussion. The story you just outlined appears to be something that could have easily killed you, and mixing prescription medications with minimal attention paid to potentially dangerous interactions is a solid way to end up with serotonin syndrome. I don't expect my physician to know of all of the potential interactions of every medication off hand (that's more in a pharmacists purview ultimately) and with the smorgasbord of supplements most of us are using on top of medications this complicates matters even further.

Man this gives me a lot to think about. I’ve never had it put this way.

It’s time for a change man, it’s been like this for the past 5 years. I gotta meditate on this.

You might want to get tested for sleep apnea. I suffered with that for years and didn't know it. Either very restless sleep or wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to fall back asleep. Always felt like crap in the morning. Doc tested me for sleep apnea and I had a moderate case. I tried the cpap machine and hated it, my brother absolutely loves his though. I went the lose a lot of weight and do throat and tongue exercises route and that actually cured mine. Since then I sleep pretty well. I take melatonin most nights but I recently stopped for a week and had no trouble with sleep still. I go to bed around 8 or 9, fall asleep in about 5 minutes, wake up around 2am for maybe 8 minutes, get up at 4am and feel pretty good.
Getting up at the same time everyday and no napping during the day has helped tremendously as well.

Ahhhh.... Seroquel. I had to look up the brand name. Years ago, I knew people that were prescribed it, and ... Well, for me .... I could take just a little bit of a tablet, and it helped with sleep tremendously. But I wouldn't take more than that, because it wasn't necessary for me .... And it would make me really groggy in the morning.

I may ask my Dr for a prescription...
This week my sleep has been terrible. I have a prior prescription for Hydroxyzine, which I only took a 1/2 tablet of, at bedtime.... But I think I'd be better off with the Seroquel, if he doesn't have any issues prescribing it. He's a great Dr, and does everything he can to help. ... He generally gives me all of the facts, and lets me make the decisions.
Trazadone works really well and zero hangover / side effects. I use 100mg. 50mg is a good start. Been using it for decades.

I’ve had 2 sleep studies, both were negative for sleep apnea. I don’t even snore anymore actually.

I started sleeping with a mouthpiece because I caught myself waking up and out of breath and I do snore without it. It seemed to fix both issues for me.

I have this weird fear im going to choke on a mouthpiece while sleeping lol. Do you use a regular sports mouthpiece or is there ones specifically designed for sleep?

Designed for it but its like most mouthpieces. You boil it for 5 minutes, throw in ice water for 5 seconds then bite on it and it forms to your teeth. Its big enough that you can't swallow it. It does work though.

I found this a while back, it’s specifically targeted towards athletes and recovery but that end may just be a marketing scheme.

It seems pretty interesting too.

Il check it out 👍

I grind at night which causes all kinds of issues in the body - mainly neck pain, arm, shoulder loss of strength, reduction in sleep quality etc.. etc... After I started using a mouth guard, so many symptoms went away. My sleep improved greatly, little to no more neck pain, huge improvements in lifting and recovery. If you grind (your dentist can tell), I highly recommend you get a night guard. Alpha males are more prone to this - just sayin.

And I am dreaming pretty hard, which is not something I can generally pinpoint.
saturday night I dreamed my toupee fell off.

and I was pissed because apparently I had been wearing it for 2 years and nobody told me and I had wasted 2 years of hair product and minoxidil on fake hair.
