Iliotibial band syndrome?

I was reading about the symptoms and I think that might be what I have. For the passed few weeks I have been waking up and my thigh has felt swollen, the swelling isn't visible, you wouldn't be able to tell there was swelling by just looking at my leg. Once I get out of bed the feeling quickly goes away. This happened for about two weeks, then stopped and has now started up again. This all started when I was doing shrugs and I felt something pull around my knee. It wasn't painful at all, but I felt this tug and ever since then this has been happening. The swelling feeling will go from the top of my thigh down to just above my knee and I won't experience knee pain when I wake up, but I'll get minor knee pain sometimes.

I strugged with ITB for a while. Intense pain on the side of the knee and just about it on the lateral side. More painful during exercise. Sounds more like a pulled quad....the quad tendon attaches just about the knee. The ITB attaches below the knee.

Oh ok. Well I took a week off and started lifting again last night. The swelling feeling is gone, but I still have the burn feeling. Can I just workout as long as I ice the area afterward. I dont want to loose my gains yet again. This would be the third time I've been injured.
