if time travel was posible what would happen if you went into the past and killed you

"1.21 gigawatts! 1.21 gigawatts!"
"What the hell is a gigawatt?"

"Marty, in 1985, you can probably buy plutonium in every corner drugstore, but in 1955, it's a little hard to come by."

I got tired of quantum mech in physical chemistry. All those damn "particle in a long 1 dimensional box" problems. Too many problems, not enough discussion. Same way w/ physics.

To answer the question directly, it is impossible to kill yourself through time travel. You could prevent yourself from killing yourself, but you couldn't just kill yourself... or anyone. Killing is illegal even in time travel. If you try it, Bigfoot will kick your ass. Not to mention ol nessy. And then they would send you to the Bermuda triangle. That is really a prison... like Alcatraz and you get it in the a$$ from Al Capone and Amelia Earhart with a strap on.

If I were you I wouldn't even mess with stuff like this. Look where it got Napoleon... sore nuts.

I am not sure about how to travel in the past, but I think science will first allow us to travel to the future.
By :think:simply  travelling at the speed of light, one can experience time much slower than others on earth. So what will seem like 10 seconds to you will be like 500 years in the future.

Scientists actually were able to somehow gain some insight on how this works, when they passed a pulse through a cesium gas, and the pulse travelled at 300 times the speed of light, so that it appeared in two places at once.

I laughed very hard when I read this b/c of "simply".

However, time slows as you approach the speed of light. One does not have to travel the speed for the slowing of time to occur. For instance, moving at 2% of light speed would have a slowing of time effect or even flying in a supersonic jet. However, in many cases such as the super sonic jet, the slowing of time is .00000000000000000001(an example not a fact) second slower so it is not noted by an individual or the surroundings.

This is what I mentioned earlier about not being able to travel into your own past. All this stuff works on reference frames. You have to think about each person traveling at their own respective speeds as being in their own respective reference frame. So if you are travelling faster than your reference frame slows down in comparison to theirs. So you are technically traveling into the future. But you are also traveling into a future where you did not exist until you came back. It isn't like it is a parallel future where you travel into the future and see yourself all grown up.

And not only acceleration but gravity (which in itself is a an acceleration) can also slow time down, which is why black holes slow time down the closer you get to the event horizon.
