Ideal Physique??

I am torn...do I keep dieting, or do I try to gain some quality weight? I was dieting for a show, and I think I will still be in shape when that day comes...but will not compete as I didn't get my **** together as far as music, posing, ect....I have been going thru a lot as of late and posing music has been the last thing on my mind.

So....hmmm what to do? I usally seek the advice of my ladyfriend if I happen to have one at the time, some ladies like me a bit bigger @ 10%, yet some like me ripped and lighter.

I have been going through the "I feel fat must diet" to "I feel to skinny must bulk" BS for a long time.

What is your ideal physique? Bigger, or leaner? I know both is my long term goal but I will never be sastisfied...

At first, I wanted to get some size and just maintain. Then, I got some size and wanted to get HUGE! I was at 245lbs a few months back and am now 205ish. I must say, I like the 205ish much better, and I receive many more compliments. It sucks going into the gym and not lifting the amount of weight I was lifting before, but I have to remind myself I'm doing this for me, and I am not in it for "how much I can bench." Plus, to maintain that weight I need to eat a crap load and I just can't afford it now...LOL.

I have decided that what I want now is to be muscular, but stay lean and hardened up. I have no desire to get huge anylonger. Clothes just fit much better... My new goal is to be no heavier than 225lbs and at 8-10% b/f.

i think my ideal weight would be somewhere around 260-275lbs for my height, 6'7". I think I'd look really big at that weight, but not freakish.

6'7" 275lbs...nooo not freakish at all...:jaw:

You guys ever think long term health? Big guys don't live very long. I'd like to be 6'1" 205, not big but not small.

no not really considering I am around 215-220lbs now and am still fairly "thin"

i say go with what makes you happier.,....:)

I am currently 187, with probably 12% bf. I think I will reach my peak at <210 with 6-7% bf.

What are your current stats, refried?

He competed at lower than 7-8% at that weight though. I would say he competed around 5%

I am about 180 @ 5'7" and about 7-8% bf 31" waist since I am a midget, I look bigger than I am. I can also limbo under a carpet.

If I dried out completley, and depleted and carbed up, I would probebly look pretty good. I was jusy looking at old piks of me when I was really lean, but weighed only 146 lbs.

I remember my buddy Brad (do you guys know of a guy named "Goldberg" he's a wrestler I guess...I dont follow so I don't know, I just know he's a big mofo) anyways Brad, his brother, said when I was in shape ripped @ 146 he would look like the skinny guy holding my towel, as the human eye is tricked very easily when it sees low bodyfat. And he is a big boy, kinda like his brother but with more bodyfat...more of a powerlifter build.

My goal is 275 at arud 8-10% on my 6'4 frame. I am just trying to do it slowly and carefully so I don't get too much fat while bulking. I am currently 252-253.

That's my point, I don't know what makes me happier. When I have someone to look good for, meaning their favorite bodytype, I simply set my goal for that, as I can manipulate my body prety easy.

Thanks WG

point taken, i couldn't hold 5% for more than a day or two though. 7-8 percent is doable if i focus however.

Bigger is better ;)
Even if it means more bodyfat?

Granted 225 @5% would be great for my frame, but that is going to happen for me be a natty (for now)

So lifter would you give up definition for more bulk?

It really isnt a freaky look though. Considering im 6'6" 271lbs currently; at least i don't think im freaky looking  . I would like to be around the 300 mark by my late twenties with about 12%BF

I already did...lol. However I will continue to shoot for some more size with less BF. But yes, I have no problem being bulkier with the expense of not being ripped, no doubt. It's just that I prefer the bigger, bulkier look.

Since I'm in my 20's still, I'll do the bulky thing until my late 30's, and then I'll switch it back to a smaller, more aesthetic look, as long as I still have my health.

I'd like to maintain 215 with a below 10%bf... I'm hovering around 199-202 right now, last measurement was 6.5%.. I'm 5'-9" and getting no taller.. :nutkick:

That is very, very smart. KEEPING muscle is doable as you get older, but it's keeping it and LOSING FAT or GAINING it that gets more and more difficult.

Interestingly, I am 38 and now that I have this brand new 10-15 lbs of muscle, young chicks really check me out. I'm 5'11" and 232, which is pretty large.

Prior to this, my very first cycle ever, I was usually about 210. Not lean, but lean enough to have a nice V-taper and all. But I feel that this last +15 lbs muscle, -5 lbs fat has given me quite an edge in terms of impressiveness and proportions. Bigger most definitely is better, but with age, definition is more and more important. My 2¢

So for refrieddreams who is 32, I say: Man, get all the size you need in the next couple years, then concentrate on bringing the quality up. As your 30s progress, you will find that the slope of progression becomes more and more difficult to climb. You think you have LOTS of time in front of you, but lean bulking at 40 is HARD for most.

Since me and you are around the same height, do you have pics posted so I can get an idea of what the weight would look on a taller frame like myself? I'd like to be there in another 3-4 years...

Boy I'd like to be 230-235 with 6-7% at my height of 5'11'' I'm going for the Dexter Jackson look.
Though he is about 5'5" or 5'6" with sub 3% at that weight....no doubt though, 235 and 5'11" at 6% would look damn good!

I guess I'm a little bit off LOL. I thought he was at least 5'8'' though, maybe it was Cormier's height I was thinking of

I'm 6', 203lbs at around 10% bodyfat.

My largest was 215, and although I liked the numbers I could lift better, I definitely like my leaner look. Most girls wouldn't know the difference between a 500lbs deadlift vs a 315lbs deadlift, but they know a difference when your shirt is off.

I used to think that bigger was better, but lately I'm looking for the 'ripped' look. As an actor, I have to be aware of how I look on film. Larger people look more fat on film, and leaner people look more ripped. I was pretty happy with the way I looked in my last film, (almost looked too big at times), but I'm trying to be even more leaner.

My ideal? Honestly, to be 6-7% bodyfat and still over 200lbs. As long as I can see abs, I won't pose a limit on my weight. But now that I can finally see some abs, I don't ever want to lose them again.

Cool, thanks for thie input guys. I have a huge crush on this girl, and when I asked her the same question, she said something along the lines of what ever makes me happy(very cool chik IMHO), a lot different than most girls I have either been with or wanted to be. I thought that was cool. Sooooo I will diet for another 2 weeks, then deplete carbs and water, and carbup then take pix. I will then do my best to put on 15 lbs or so, but extremely clean weight...trying to stay below 8% with some visible abs.

Not trying to sound like a jerk but have any of you guys had your bf accuratley checked? I don't mean the dollar store calipers either. Do you really know what 6% bf is? Maintain 5-7 % all the time!! I have trained with guys getting ready for national shows who were busting their ass and using some nasty crap to get down to 4% or better for a day. Guys 2-3 weeks out of a show with freaky hardness and strariations at 6% . I keep reading on here guys who are maintaining 5- 7% . My little bro is 6' 240 and his waiste is probably around 33-34 . Has abs and his bf stays around between 10-15%.. and he has always had a fast metabolism. I know the BB rags are always showing guys with supposed 6% bf looking like good beach bodies. The bb rags tend to push the truth a little. Especially with the pros height and weight.. If any of you guys been to a pro show and met some of these guys you know what I mean...lol. If the mag says the guy is 5' 8" he is probably 5'5".. all the pros I met over the years who were supposed to be 6' my height always seemed to be 3-4 inches shorter than I . So don't believe everything you see and read in those mags..

Check my post in the BF scale thread in the supp section. I do not ever really check bodyfat. I just don't care what the # is. When I use terms of 8% or so I know in my head what that means. I may be way off but,,,oh well.

BTW I was 4% for a week or so, this was the only time in my life I got the BF check done. I could not survive at that BF%. It sucked ass, my knees hurt, I was freezing, all my joints hurt...

Thank god someone knows what 4% is..Refried thank you bro. Unless you are doing a show bf% is not that important. You are like me % is not important. How you look and feel is .. I like the old BB's look. Arnold ,Serge, Larry Scott etc. These guys looked awsome and were still carrying more bf and water then you think. Hell in pumping iron they are eating steak and eggs the morning of the olympia. Thats a lifestyle I can live with...lol...

true, but according to the caliper measurments, one can be said to be sub 3%, though we need at least 3% fat to survive. A buddy of mine who is friends with Branch Warren tested his bodyfat before teh Europa show and they had him at 2.5%....

Glen, did you get my email yesterday bro?

Call me crazy, but I'd like to touch 275 10-12%.. at 6 feet even. And I'm crazy enough I might just do it. :whip:

Yea.. I know.. Give me 6.5 years (I'll be 40 by then). :p

Man, 6' 250 super-ripped is good for pro BB ranks. Pre-season, that puts you at 275, 12%.....

True, but I'm filled with lead. Always have weighed a ton more then someone else the same size as me or larger for that matter. It comes from my mothers father, bone thickness and density is absurd. In highschool I had to take the biggest helmet, and hollow out the foam padding to be able to wear it.... I use to play tight end, and even though I was put up against some of the biggest guys on the team.. and I use to say to myself.. holy **** look at the size of this guy... when the ball was snapped... they'd be flat on thier back as I ran right over them...

Hell I broke 3 peoples ribs... numerous ribs I might add.. and all three them got them broke cause they thought they could tackle me or knock me over.. they all ended up on the ground, screaming for air hugging there rib cage.. and in bed for 2 weeks. I just kept running, they were stupid enough to try and stop me. :) (2 of these incidence happened in baseball... one tried to drop me as I ran from first to second.. and the other tried to knock me off second, as he sailed into my chest at full speed... that guy bounced back 10 feet and landed on his head..) lol

and of course I never broke a single bone of my own.. :)

So in other words... 275 10-12% for me.. is like 255% 10-12% for most normal people.. :p :)

Good point. I've never had an "accurate" bf test, only 2 methods - the cheap store caliper one (well, $20 caliper...) and the 3 place tape measure thing that the US Navy uses. Ironically, the Navy one was pretty close to the 7 point caliper test.

I can make out my abs, well, the top 2 rows. Other people can make it out too. :) The third row kinda blends in with the mythical 4rth row, LoL. So I'm comfortable with saying I'm 10% bf, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it turned out I was 12 or 13%.

Just from me going from 14% to what I am now was a WORLD of difference. Getting to single digits for me would take a lot more calculation than I'm currently doing to be honest. One of these days I might get Bobo to help me out with that...

Im looking to get to 215lbs with 10% by this time next year. This winter I am looking to add much need lbs and than stay off the gear for 4-6months and just train natural and really work on the diet to make it much cleaner. My diet is pretty dirty and I am adding fat to prove it, but with that said, I am also adding more muscle now than ever too. I am very excited for my next cycle. Im thinking 220-230 is the most I want to be and that at a very lean size. I only want to hit this to hit that, after a while I will probably try to stay around 210lbs with around 8-10% bf, I just want to hit higher numbers to do it for myself.
