High cortisol is seriously sabotaging my life. For me it's not as simple as taking a p serine pill I've even megadosed ashwagandha, gaba and theanine. Nothing calms me down. Because from when I was 6 years old to when I was 8, I stayed at my grandmothers house and I drank coffee literally every day, I became addicted to it and I drank it 3 times everyday for 2 years. It is now 10 years later and I'm still feeling the effects because my biochemistry, my nervous system, my adrenal and thyroid gland function were all drastically and permanently changed in those 2 years. My whole life has been full of nervousness. My fight or flight response is triggered by the smallest things, I hear my phone ring and my heart is beating like crazy, I get into a small argument my heart is beating like crazy. I can't even walk without my heart beating. The other day I woke up at like 4am to go to the bathroom to pee and my heart started rapidly beating even though I could hardly open my eyes. There's something seriously wrong here because this is not just a bodybuilding problem. My heart, my adrenals are working full cylinder all day. One thing I don't understand is that cortisol is supposed to cause aging but I look very young and I'm still pretty muscular, I'm not sure but maybe my body has adapted and have become immune to cortisol. Even though I'm 19 I look like I'm 14 maybe because my adrenals have always been using up all the energy in my body my testicles never fully got activated I look like I just started puberty even though I'm 19.

Another huge problem is that whenever I get ready to eat I get very excited and my heart starts beating rapidly. I don't understand it even after I eat my nervous system doesn't calm down. No matter how much I eat my parasympathetic nervous system doesn't kick in. Yesterday I had 3 bowls of rice with beef yet my heart was beating like I was in the middle of a war. I know that a normal person with a normal nervous system naturally calms down to relax and digest the food. I've noticed that the only thing that really calms me down is sleep deprivation, if I get 4-5 hours of sleep then I'm very calm but feel like a zombie all day. But if I get too much sleep then I'm just hyperactive all day.

What can I take to activate my sympathetic nervous system I just want to be able to digest my food because I know my meals never really get digested because I'm in fight or flight mode instead of rest and recuperate mode. I need some very strong things to calm me down.

What makes you think it is a cortisol issue versus anxiety? Severe anxiety can cause overactive adrenals.

You should go see a doc and or endocrinologist to have your cortisol levels checked. While you get that test done also get a full hormone panel done. The results might tell you and your doctor something. What you describe I would seek a real medical opinion and testing on not supplements. Good luck may hope you can get it taken care of.

EArch is right, but if your still searching for the best cortisol controlling supp, Primordial Performance makes Endo Amp Max.

Check your thyroid. If you're hypothyroid, the body produces a lot of adrenaline to make it look like you have the energy to function while you technically don't have any. Along with that it increases cortisol not only as a result of stress but also to fix all the cellular damage that thyroid hormones (along with test and growth hormone) are not present to do the same. In other words, cortisol is the main rebuilding hormone in such a state and suppressing is only fixing the symptoms. Let me know if you can do blood work and we'll help you with the list of tests that would be most helpful.
