Hypothyroidism and supplements!

Is it possible that an iodine supplement can make your body temp go down even more?

Too much iodine in euthyroid patients has been shown to induce subclinical hypothyroidism (i.e. TSH going too high) but I am not sure how this would relate to body temperature.

TSH is a very inaccurate way to measure thyroid function. TSH levels on there own could show euthyroid or hypothyroidism but t3 and t4 levels show hyperthyroidism. Free t3, free t4, reverse t3, total t3, total 4, then TSH, and then finally the antibodies and so much more in that order. Although if free t3 is low no matter what other numbers suggest you are hypothyroid.

I agree, but in euthyroid people TSH should really not be above 2

My tsh is consistently in mid to high 3s but free t3 and free t4 ALWAYS are flagged for being to high. And rt3 being on the low end so idk. I may be an exception

What else you need?
Can you comment on iodine possibly exacerbating symptoms of hypo? It's strange, my body temp will rise but my fingers will be cold for a little while after supplementing. I've been hitting mid 98's during the day, but it will drop back down to mid 97's.

Well I'm not an Endo, just read that it's possible - but you'd still have a problem and feel like crap anyway, so at least it would send you clinical and you'd be able to get an Rx... Is my opinion anyway, LOL.

How you could be seeing *anything* after a couple days is beyond me though.. you sure you're not placebo/scaring yourself into feeling symptoms? Those numbers are normal - 97s waking, and 98's Mid-day.

Color me confused.

So is it safe to say that I'm doing more harm than good?
