Hypertrophy

Does anybody have any idea if it is possible to emphasise myofibrillar hypertrophy (the type that increases the amount of muscle fibres that is myofibrils) rather than sarcoplasmic hypertrophy (increasing the internal volume of existing muscle fibres). If so how? I'm not saying either or btw just how to emphasise myofibrillar more. I know alot of people say low reps, high weight is the way to achieve this, is there any truth to that? My explanation of the two types might not be complete but it gives the gist of it.

I think you mean hyperplasia and it would have to be under extreme demands possibly where the risk of injury outweighs the minor possibility that hyperplasia could be significant in muscle size. That is still undetermined though.

I may have the answer, but to answer correctly I need to know .....

How many days a week are you currently in the gym, how long are your workouts and how long has it been since the last time you missed a scheduled workout

Spoiler, myofibril growth is through heavy low rep training. It's better for generating strength and power then hypertrophy.

I know we're in the natural section 😁

Hyperplasia is going to be achieved with lots of HGH, insulin and gear. No1 natural is going to get hyperplasia to any noticable degree (im sure there are some genetic freaks who will) but even guys on gear aren't making giant gains from hyperplasia. I think it's one of those things that we probably don't need to worry about because we probably will never achieve it. I did notice when I used HGH on cycle everything worked better than previous cycles, even ones with higher doses of gear. If someone is not natty, get on HGH :)

Hi, currently in the process of switching from a hypertrophy focused full body 3 day routine to a 5x5 stronglifts 3 day a week routine. I'm currently testing out how I respond to the 5x5 routine and I may go with a modified version of it, I forget the name of it but it focuses more on the aesthetic muscles and is a four day routine. Currently I aim to spend no more than 45mins per workout but sometimes in the 5x5 routine rest periods push it to an hour. I haven't missed a workout in the past 3 months, prior to those months I did skip a week as I was I'll with man flu.

Not hyperplasia no, I was trying not to get to technical by getting stuck in the details of muscles so I'll use an analogy if you think of an electrical wire you know the coloured ones think of that as a muscle fibre if you split that wire open you'll see lots of thin wires in terms of muscle these would be the myofibrils or fine muscle fibres. Hyperplasia is about increasing the number of coloured wires or muscles fibres where as myofibrillar hypertrophy is about increasing the number of thin wires in them or very fine fibres. I hope the analogy makes sense.

I'm not asking about hyperplasia but myofibrillar hypertrophy. At the moment I'm not against gear it's just I'd like to get my body into a good natural state as naturally as possible, with all the possible problems skinny fat might throw my way I'm not looking to add gear to complicate things, though I know some people advocate for trt as a solution. I've not had children yet and don't want to make it more difficult to get the right lass pregnant.

Trt is not a solution, 99.9% of people on trt don't even look like they exercise. Only a moron will advocate gear to someone who hasn't learned anything about diet and training. Steroids aren't a bandaid.

When I responded to you it was specific to myofibril growth and I answered your question. I was talking to the other guy about hyperplasia. In the nicest way possible, you're worried about a bunch of stuff that doesn't matter. Just start exercising and work on progressing at a few basic lifts. A 3 day full body split in my opinion is the best way to build strength early on because you are performing most exercises 2-3 x week and just like most things, practice makes perfect. The majority of my clients are people in a similar situation like you or severely overweight. Cleaning up the diet and regular exercise are the 2 most important factors to fixing the issue at hand.
