Right on. I love ohp but that mofo doesn’t love me.
Definitely. It’s a Denver Mattress. We also tried several Purple out and Tempurpedic’s cooling line. Purple was nice but more expensive and definitely didn’t like it as much as the Denver - that baby was just magic every time we got on it. Tempurpedics very top offering was great as well, and it absolutely truly was cooling - but it was nearly 3x the price and my wife runs cold lol. No way did it make sense for us.Huge purchase man! Sounds like a winner. Im gonna be looking for a full on review after a couple months.
It’s just my bodyweight vs the age of the mattress (8 years). In 3 years with my wife I have managed to crater one side and now the other. We had switched sides after the first one since she likes her knees elevated anyway. Now I’m out of sides to blow outYou know it’s bad when you both start on one side but end up in the middle lol
I just need to find a used CPAP now...Thanks for adding what went into your thought process. I’ve been browsing at mattresses for a year and a half now and both Purple & Tempurpedics were on my list to check out. I’ve not heard a ton about Denver and the comfort + affordability sounds tough to beat.
My fiance and I gave the crater problem too ...we’re on our second rotation through of switching sides . Everyone thinks it’ll be cool to be 250+...until you start blowing out mattresses, breathing fire from GERD, getting out of breath walking down a hallway, regularly swassing out shorts while simply standing outside.

Good news: My new Ohio DL bar is awesome!!! Felt very strong & 470 was grooving. Hook felt great on it; surface skin was beginning to shred at the surface so I put the straps on to keep making progress training the callus.
Bad news: pain I had after BB Rows Friday, and have been feeling in bed or in the daytime some when sitting in a chair, got worse with every set - final set felt like I was getting stabbed in my Glute medius when I would wedge in and make the initial drive off the floor. Could’ve soldiered on, but I know that kind of pain means pay now or pay much more later. I also was getting pain and numbness in my right calf/foot when I was unracking 420 on squats Wednesday. So I am thinking some kind of overuse nerve issue, maybe sciatic?
Good thing my new Titan Economy reverse hyper is coming Wednesday! Praying they get the order shipped correctly and I can set it up right away. Wasn’t gonna mention it until I had it built in the garage but now seems especially relevant!
No sir, basically as soon as I stop the heavy lifting pain goes away. Not like a muscle tear, essentially. And not spasming like a disc, nor is it near there.Any heat from the lower back?
Thanks for the ideas! I have been wfh since I started this job last summer, so nothing has changed in my day. I think I might have had a jolt while moving our couch up a big step backwards a couple weeks ago that might be causing this. Can’t wait for the reverse hyper! What you describe is precisely what im dealing with, right down to the numbness/radicular pain with squats (which thankfully i havent had in a while). Try out the banded figure 4 stretch & the whole donnie “taming the dragon in your low back” hang series. You already know the stuff to do for general upkeep (walks, etc).
Also, once that hyper comes in, maybe just do a light set of 20 a few times a day. Before work, lunch break (if still at home), after work, etc. If youre spending more time sitting than usual because of working from home - stand up and walk around for a minute every 15 mins. Squeeze your glutes and brace like you just walked out 500lbs before and after.
That’s my Ohio Deadlift bar I just used Monday - my Tornado hooks came in from Amazon yesterday so I need to hang my barbells up tonight too, and bench! Gonna be fun!Dont feel like going back so please reward my laziness - what bar is that? And get to work mule, I want to see that stuff assembled by nightfall.
Nice! Your garage is officially better than my gym!Took much longer than I anticipated (my old tools are in storage at my parents, so I had to use the supplied Chinesium freebie half-wrenches instead of a proper 3/8 socket set and wrench). BUT that’s my fault and I am EXTREMELY impressed. The lone thing I needed Titan didn’t provide was a tiny Allen key between size 2.5-3 to back the stops out of the bearings to slide the shaft of the pendulum all the way flush.
Boxes came immaculate. 2 of them packed very intelligently - not a single scratch anywhere. All the hardware included in exact count and marked legibly. A terrific manual better than the Cessna & Bombardier ones I had to use as a mechanic years back, with awesome exploded breakdowns:

Took about 3 hours of work with the slow wrench-turning, but it was enjoyable enough and honestly pretty straightforward. You will need a second pair of hands to mount the pendulum & bearings, and probably want them to install the top frame (I did it myself tho). This thing feels really solid, it’s surprisingly light, and it glides smooth as silk - did a set empty then 3x10 w/ 90lbs and love it already. It’s comfier on my belly than ANY other I’ve ever used.

^ Proper use of a reverse hyper
Yeah it’s always a toss up at best for bench when you’re 4lbs lighter than 9 days prior, but the muscle and power seems to be hanging on well! No idea how they will hold up, but very pleased with the Tornado hooks for quality and ease of install. Literally a screwdriver and measuring where you want the hooks to go on your drywall (I also scanned for studs at those spots to make sure I wasn’t going to randomly hit one, because you need to pre-drill that).Theres a lot to like from that last post! BW down and stabilizing, bench still up, garage gym continues to come together!

I’m not saying it’s the best breakfast I’ve ever had, but I am saying I couldn’t have enjoyed it any more. My favorite daily meal lately, with a big chocolate chip diner pancake & fresh watermelon on the side

Awesome news! Congratulations! You are going to love being a Dad.I don’t believe I have mentioned this yet here, but it will affect my training heavily in the coming year(s), so for transparency: we are expecting around January We started trying shortly after the Arnold, and hit the jackpot right away (hence buying a house so we’d have room for the baby). Wife has been doing great, and we are very excited!
That in consideration, there isn’t really time for me to have adequate time off cycle & to do another serious meet prep before the baby comes (nor will it be ideal for us to both be bloated to hell at the same time the baby is coming when my wife will need my physical help & mental support most).
Chad is hosting a strongman show on October 3rd and we’re going to go down to visit, so I have decided I’m going to get in shape to enter the Novice class. The Heavyweight Open weights are out of the question & I can’t get to 220 for Lightweight Open that soon. I haven’t done any event training in over a year and a half, and I’ve got about 6.5 weeks to get in some semblance of shape - time to see how much grit I can muster!

Have a link to the events & weights for novice? Excited to see how the prep works out for ya...youre at your strongest state yet so you may as well try and get as much done in a competition setting as you can before hercules/herculette joins your training circle!
