Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

Kochi in Normal, IL - if anybody from AM is ever passing through central IL and wants to stop by, lunch is on me. I can also bring someone with me to train for free at the gym.

Thank you! 235 may not be much compared to what someone can clean or jerk, but the log is really a unique implement.
Psh 235? You need to step it up bro lol jk

If im ever in that area you better believe im taking you up on that offer

Dang, you weren’t kidding her coach loves some volume lol

Sushi is where my heart is, we have an AYCE sushi buffet but is like 4/10 good

Get them prs boiii

This place the sushi isn’t cut like a masterpiece, but it’s good enough and the quality of food is very high. Best place I’ve ever been to. Nevermind the unlimited quantity and cheapskate price tag.

I mean it bro; my lady doesn’t eat sushi so I’m just looking for an excuse to go here!

And I wanna logpress 300lbs. But I gotta do 250 before I even worry about that lol

I got my dead up to 585 before life got in the way of lifting the last month or so. Ive still gone here and there but i havent deadlifted in about a month. Thinking tomorrow is deadlift day

Man, you’re about to have a lumbar/erectors of straight steel!

Deads x10 —-> bb rows 6x8. I need to stop being a chump

I have witnessed Mark Felix rowing 500lbs to warm up for deadlifts. Adam Derks, who co-writes our program, always has lots of bb rows on deck. Duffin too, all row big and pull in the 900s conventional at around 270-300lbs bodyweight at 5’9”-6’0”. When I had that realization, I started to take the bb row seriously.

Supposed to hit shoulders this morning. It’s the missus’s day off, and it was collllld outside in the dark but warm in that cozy bed. Ankle & pec aching, knee barking when I got up to pee - not close enough to contest to ignore little niggles yet. Took the extra sleep and spent some QT with my woman - even made her breakfast

Haven’t loaded stones in months, and way longer since I’ve front squat. Only things building my legs and torso strength were boxsquats/backsquats and deadlifts, yet I worked up today just to see where I was and easily smashed through the 4 plate barrier. It’s been years since I set this as a goal, but I never lost belief. Sometimes it just takes longer than you want it to. MrKleen73

There it is! Thats a hell of a lifting milestone, one that 90%+ of people who step foot in a gym will never achieve. Even the athletic ones. Good stuff buddy.

Looks like i gotta start regularly doing front squats again dang it Hyde

Well apparently the secret is to stop doing them for half a year! Before my erectors and abs were never strong enough to stay upright under maximal load. Since training more strongman events and getting my deadlift back up that seems to have improved.

Thank you, felt really good about this. Need to keep driving this up so I can push my stone-loading past 300lbs and stabilize a bigger log. The guys in America’s Strongest Man in the 231s can almost all load a 400 stone and front over 500!

I did raise my max from ~345 to 375 in about 16 weeks of dedicated frontsquat & hi bar work last winter, so it can work, but I was starting to hit a plateau.

Nice work mate! 8 plate front squat means you are officially strong in my book!

Coming from you, that is appreciated! I know you know what it’s like to navigate through the bumps and backtracks of heavy strength training.

How much longer you ON?

Just finished week 5 and scheduled to be on for 10. However the competition is 3 weeks after that, so if I go that long then 13. I did just order HCG so I can go longer safely if I decide to (fiancé has baby fever so not trying to go blast n cruise any time soon).

Bro, my mans ain’t no quitter.

Lol. Truth! All year baby!

I remember Jim Wendler saying most guys he trained with only did one steroid cycle their entire life...and they typically lasted about 40 years or so, give or take ?

Been reconsidering the direction of this cycle. I am consistently waking up at 238-241, which is the ideal weight I will need to be on Jan 25th. More muscle would be nice, but I no longer need to force the scale up any higher so all out bulking is unnecessary. Had planned to start 4 weeks of Pheraplex @ 30-40mg next week. But I don’t want to waste something so exotic if I’m basically going to be recomping from here out.

Thinking about going with OL’s The 1 (methyl DHT) at 100mg for the next 6 weeks, which I am sure would be a good ride and keep my weight around low 240s (all the logs everyone recomped).

Other wildcard option is 2 bottles of Celtic Mass, Superdrol-diol. That’s enough for up to 6 weeks at 40mg, but nobody ever really established dose and length norms for it.

3 weeks at 80mg would be great. Just kidding lol ive never heard of sd-diol

3 weeks at 80mg would be great. Just kidding lol ive never heard of sd-diol

Lol guys ran it between 30-90mg for 3-5wks as I recall and said it generally felt like superdrol when they got their dosage where they liked. Celtic Mass was the first and only supplement product to ever offer it. Zero Flux cloned it later on as a research compound but they packed up shop a few months ago.

Decided against Celtic Mass (likely too toxic for 6 weeks) & Pheraplex (woke up at 242.0 today without even trying).

Will either go with The 1 or Mithras for next 6 weeks. Mithras from all I’ve heard basically added a few lbs, hardening/fullness, and good strength. A good compound for the weightclass-conscious. I have some oral 11kt I’ll use the last 3 weeks when the 1dhea, Andro Bulk, and LGD finishes after 10 weeks. I’ll throw a little 4dhea and Epiandro under it likely and call it good. That gets me off methyls the week of contest to drop water from them, lower bp, ditch any cramping or pumps, cortisol will be suppressed despite cutting, & strength will still essentially be maximal.

I love to squat but generally dislike leg day otherwise (most machines suck and the things that really work are hard), but the Smith squats, once I got the right positioning, were a lot of fun - will definitely be doing those again. Squats moved well and I am doing a lot better at staying upright under heavier weights.

After close counsel from someone familiar with The 1, Mithras, and Superdiol - will be stacking The 1 at 100mg & Superdiol at 40mg for 45 days. Should be low side and give a lot of dry strength, and the 1 giving libido and aggression, without as much weight potential as Mithras.

Pumped to start Saturday!
