How to Train for MMA

I'm interested in MMA, but my conditioning and cardio need some work before I walk into any of the gyms around here. I don't want to even walk into an MMA gym unless I can hang. So I guess what I'm asking is how to get there. I've been doing a lot of sled-dragging, sledgehammer-swinging, sandbag-carrying, things like that. Do you still need to hit the weights to get to the point I'm trying to get to? Cardio? Do you bother with light cardio anymore? Do you bother with long-distance running at all? So many questions (most of them are rhetorical, not looking for anyone to actually break it down for me to that extent). I'd appreciate a push in the right direction. How to get ready, to get ready for MMA.

have you sat in a class yet? you dont have to train that day but to watch and see how everyone else is moving, acting, cardio wise, strenght wise?

Honestly, you're going to get your ass handed to you for the first few months. That's just the nature of the beast, especially in an area such as Florida.

The best thing to do to get in shape for MMA is to do MMA. Plain and simple.

haha yup be prepared for some tough love.

take downs were the best for me, scoops and slams and not knowing how to break a fall on a wooden floor.
