How long for adrenal recovery?

Hi,

I have a thread on here called "My Results" but I need to ask a specific question.

A lot of my symptoms have alleviated through stopping steroid inhalers (advair & clenil) but although I'm sleeping better I'm still pretty tired in the morning. My libido still sucks (getting worse even) and I have no get and go about me (I find it difficult to get motivated about anything). My moods are better though. I'm due to get results of a T test next week but I think my adrenals are still compromised.

Any idea how long they take to normalise? Should I do a 24hr adrenal test and take it from there?

Thanks,

i would suggest iodine loading test as inhalers contain bromine which depletes iodine from your body leaving you in a weaken state and hypothyroid and potentially low adrenals. Once you remove the stress and implement lifestyles it could take 3-6 months depending on how severe the condition. Please identify how low your levels are with cortisol salvia test.

Hi Matrix,

I was hoping you'd reply! Interesting about the Iodine. I'll broach the subject of that and a 24hr Cortisol test. The thing is they're already done an ATCH Stim test which was "normal" (started at 3pm and was 221 nmol/L (8 ng/dL)) so there'll be resistance! The My T4 and TSH (=1.0) are normal and they won't do T3. Not asked about the antibodies test though...

Thanks,

Thanks,

I have all new people doing iodine urine 10 ml random spot test from labs to see what is really going on. The reason i like to have people do alot of labs so I can see the over all picture with everything in front of me to see what is really going on. By nickel and diming test you can not see the true over all pics. i wish I would had be a PA as in state of colorado you can prescribe all class of drugs without a physcian over looking you, but you better be careful or you be having the DEA knocking on your doors.

Ah - I'm from the UK so I had to google nickel and diming test! I had no idea that was a complete set of tests done by employers - you learn something new every day! The iodine test sounds like a good idea - I'm sure my endo won't do it so I'll have to find somewhere in the UK that does (most places do saliva and bloods)...
