How long do you take off

how long do you go between cycles

it has really depended on my cycles and goals. I've ran five full cycles .. i'd say average has been 4-5 months

General known rule is to take off the full cycle+pct time before starting another.

Typically, I take atleast doubble the cycle+pct length off before starting another. Naturally, receptors will be more responsive next time around. longer time off = better gains next time.

I feel better about taking time off now that IGF-1 has become a big part of the bodybuilding world

where exactly did this whole theory about time on + PCT = time off. I'm just wondering, for something (steroids) that is so individual and which everyone reacts differently it just seems weird that this is a "rule".

Im not sure where it came from but common sense would say that this rule is the MINIMUM time you should take off. If you take any less time off then your body has supressed testosterone more often than it is fully functioning.

Also, even though PCT only takes one month, usually it takes a few months for the body to fully recover. Often people have symptoms of shutdown for months after PCT

This is true, though I would not state it is the 'minimum'. If one does a 16 week cycle, for example, that theory would dictate taking 5 months to do another cycle. While that is a good idea, and upto personal preference, from the research I have seen the body does not take near that long to recover. Do we know conclusively that there is a constant progression in time needed to recover correlating to cycle duration? If we do not, then the theory does not have as much of a base as one would think.

I am not advocating doing cycles right off of P.C.T., I just do not tend to swallow everything I see on a BB'ing board whole.

Good post Mullet.

My point is if you go 5 months on, take 3 off and then 5 on again, that means that your HPTA is supressed more days out of the year then it is working.

I absolutely agree though, it depends on the person and the cycle.

I'm not advocating going from cycle to cycle with no time off, i'm just trying to understand this "rule" i keep hearing about, especially if you factor in cycle length.
