How important is eating on workout days?

I'm 150 pounds and on a 3,000 calorie diet, I finished up my final workout for leg day and notice there is a minimal amount of food in the cabinet and not a lot of money to get food, I'd say I got in about 2000 calories out of the whole day and I practically scraped the cabinets for food. Im afraid my workout may be in vain. Is there anyway I can make it up tommorow to save my potential gains or no?

I like to carb load the days after I don’t get to eat much. Keep your BCAAs on deck as always. Don’t over eat the next day!!!
Side note, if you can’t afford a ton of clean food on a bulk, just try to eat as clean as you can but remember, dudes in prison get big because the take in a lot of calories and that food isn’t clean. Make a prison meal haha! Ramen, summer sausage, tuna, condiments of your choosing, and so on to make the macros you need.

Yes.
Positive nitrogen balance is met even when you have a fast day per week, so don't worry. Keep protein high for growth -not only total calories.

Ramen noodles, tuna, oatmeal, eggs, rice and beans. Real cheap. You can put on some good size with these guys too

Being afraid your workout was in vain is actually a good sign. That shows you have dedication! I forgot my creatine yesterday, I lost all my muscles! LOL. But that mindset is an indicator for a perfectionist, something precious in bodybuilding! Welcome to AM, brother!

Lmao, thanks! I just ate 600 calories worth of oatmeal cause I couldn't go to sleep without fulfilling my surplus, I'm gonna eat an apple just in case lol.

As above bro, it’s not as simple as the 45 anabolic window bros would have you believe.

The way you talk is that of a man who will make progress. Keep pushing and let us know how you get on

On a side note you shouldn't need 3000 cals at 150 lbs. I'm 195 And I average around 2300 for the past few months and havnt lost any weight

This exactly. Look at this at a macro level versus micro. For your calories, try and hit a weekly amount, that way, if you are short one day, you can make it up the next. Your weight gain/loss will still be the same over the long run.

On days you need extra calories, look into fattier cuts of meat and even fat sources. Fat sources are pretty cheap and pack a lot of calories in a single serving.

Maan, it's not necessary to buy expensive food. But what about your question, there is my opinion: if this situation was once there is nothing scary, but in general you need to get some food after your workout to fill carb window.

And you need to maintain your daily calorie intake in rest days too because muscles grow not at the workout, rest and high calorie intake are needed for gains.
