How do you manage stimulant tolerance long-term?

Hi everyone, my first post.

Recently I've been trying to get off stims because they seem to work less and less over time and I'm wondering if it's just a tolerance that I've build up. Is there anything out there I can use to sort of reset my system or should I just avoid stims for a time. Thanks for any help.

Just come off them for a while. Most of them are overrated anyway and a good cup of coffee will do. You can always buy separate stuff for pump if you want.

I wouldn't use this stuff long term anyway. are you taking days off during the week? maybe using it only for leg days or days which you are doing some heavy lifting? there are always ways to cut back so it doesn't effect you as much. what are you using?

Just came of Dust X and wasn't too happy with it. The feeling has been there for a couple months. I haven't used anything really strong imo for a long time.

Stim break, 10-14 days. You got to reset your drug tolerance and the only way to do it is to stop taking the drug.

Also MAGNESIUM during use and during your break. Most stims deplete it.
I like higher dose THIAMINE aka VITAMIN B1 for stim free energy.

That's a good point, it actually depletes a whole bunch of essential vitamins and minerals, I don't know if a lot of people know this but high doses of stimulants can severely limit muscle growth, I don't know what the threshold is but high doses of stimulants are catabolic and inhibit nutrient uptake in general. Reduces your ability to recover and grow

Agreed. Cursory look stims / caffeine depletes Electrolytes, Magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Vitamins B, C and D. I also like to take an adrenal complex or support or bovine adrenal extract/desiccant if I am really feeling burnt out.

Using this daily will make your tolerance rise quick causing the need for more whilst trying to get the same affect. Only time off will make it effective again. The more time off, the more effective. At least 10 days off and then use only a two- three times a week. If you’re unable to use only two - three times a week, then stims are not for you.

agree with this. I think people overuse these things and can really throw your body out of whack.

I've decided to just take a break from them for a bit. I already can feel it. Feel very sluggish especially waking in the morning. I just started taking a b complex vitamin to help and will probably add magnesium as well. Any other suggestions to get through the fatique?

I would double down on nuitrition, sleep and low stress. Don't train much right now (if at all) and don't be in a caloric deficit. At one time, we had much better workouts and gains without stims. Take care.

Take a long break like over a month. I overused stims when I was younger, now I have hypertension. Can’t take anything except Coffee now. It sucks. I used to take stim breaks and take licorice root give those adrenals a break.

I cycle everything except caffeine. I limit hard stims to once a week or less. DMAA, etc, seem to build tolerance the fastest. Yohimbine/ alpha Yo were actually the hardest to cut out of the routine honestly since the energy and adrenaline they provide can’t really be replicated.

I end up drinking too much coffee in the morning and I tell myself I can't have a pre workout because I already consummed too much coffee. :ROFLMAO:

I've been off for 11 days and the difference is very noticeable, almost like a brain fog has been lifted a bit. I don't have those periods of a couple hours where I'm just sluggish. First couple days were rough I have to admit. Going to keep it going for now.

Non stim nootropics. Focus xt caffeine free is hard to beat for the price.

Just take more and more

Simple solutions to life's problems :)

In all seriousness, taking a break is the most important thing you can do. Even just a few days off of caffeine will do it for most people. It might not "hit" as hard as the first time you took it, but you'll likely have difficulty sleeping that night, which is evidence of lowered tolerance.

I'd second the Focus XT recommendation. That formula has some real thought behind it, along with the L-Tyrosine and other compounds that are building blocks of important neurotransmitters. Vitamin C is also very important to adrenal function, etc. etc.
