How Do We Spice Up Our Steamed Vegetables and Baked Potatoes?

Hi Guys,

Back in Southern California, we had so many diet foods.

1. Something as healthy, and bland, as a baked potato could be spiced up with:

Sriracha Sauce
Tobasco, Cholula or any other Hot Sauce
Low Sodium Soy Sauce
Low Sugar Ketchup and BBQ Sauce
Mrs. Dash (All Varieties)
Molly McButter, Butter Buds
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter
Healthy Hummus

2. Any toppings or recipes you guys use for something bland, like steamed vegetables or baked potatoes?

I am hoping I learn something new.

I treat a lot of my veggies like pieces of meat and marinate for an hour or two before grilling/roasting. Mix in some diced garlic and onion then season with spices of your choice. I'm partial to vegetable seasoning, some cayenne pepper, onion salt, and cumin. Toss it all in a bag with some olive oil and then cook.

I'm trying to get fat while bulking and failing, but I always boost my baked potatoes with some cream cheese, queso, or just mad butter. For a low calorie alternative, fresh herbs go a long way - I mainly use cilantro, but also chives from time to time.

I like A1 or Heinz 57 on my baked potato. If you’re worried about sugar, Dijon mustard is good too.

Seasonings are your best friend. Rosemary, dill etc can add loads of flavor and almost no calories.

We grill almost all of our veggies as well. Salt and pepper is about all I use most of the time. Herbs otherwise.

I do the same. Even for chicken salad- family doesn’t even know there’s not mayo! Haha

As for potatoes- I’m a huge fan of Italian herbs and roasting them!
