How do MMA fighters or bosers wrap up their training before a competition?

The reason I ask is that I normally just stay in decent shape always without peaking or really cranking up the volume. However, I'm taking a firefighter's physical in a few weeks and I want to really hit the peak of my endurance. I imagine the same basic idea is involved for boxers, so I'm directing it at you guys since fire fighting isn't exactly a sport.

Running hills hard is a pretty good analog for what is needed in the actual test. I'm pretty sure it's the best method for this purpose.

Right now I do a CrossFit circuit or some weights and run hills hard a few times a week. I'm going to cut the strength training in half and run hard uphill intervals basically every day for 2 weeks before the test. I have about 7 weeks BTW.

Do I have the right idea here?

Do the Walking Farmers Lunges things with weights as well as roadwork, cause to be fair Boxers and MMA fighters don't have to carry 70 pounds+ with them up multiple flights of stairs.
