Holland and Barrett?

I very rarely go in but i had a look today.

How do they justify thier prices? Even with thier *deals* thier still atleast double online prices?

Most thier supplements are also half the dose of the online company's. Usually your taking double to get the recommended dose.

Am surprised they get business tbh.. But i suppose its handy for people to just collect things off the shelf.

Anyone ever use them? I never picked anything.. Why pay £3 for a protein bar when i got one in the store round the corner for 99p.. More protein in it also!

Hate ranting but just dont see how they can charge so much for half the *product*

I guess it's just like our GNC in the states. If you're still shopping there you just don't know any better

Ano mate I dunno why anyone shops there. Sometimes you find a good deal or price on something but 99% of their stuff is seriously overpriced even with those buy one get one half price deals they do you're still getting ripped off. The products are rubbish too, I went in to see if they'd any magnesium tablets but the only ones they had had calcium in it as well. Calcium competes with magnesium for absorption so what's the point in putting them together in a pill?

There is a simple rule in business. If someone will pay the price, someone will charge it.

Protien
Amino acids
Pre workout
All that stuff will be cheaper online brotber

Didn't know that. Explains why the gnc where I used to live shut down and a H&B opened in its place.

GNC" is a trade mark or registered trade mark used in the UK by Health & Diet Centres Limited under license from General Nutrition Investment Company. Health & Diet Centres Limited was acquired by Holland & Barrett International Limited in 2003. We are a specialist retailer of sports nutrition products; including vitamins, minerals, herbals and other speciality supplements, diet and energy products.

A never bought a thing.. I wouldn't ever pay thier prices.. Thiers a shop round the corner that does a 1kg of whey for £10.. 1kg bag in holland and barrett was £33? A dont care if its a cheap whey.. The whey tastes nice and goes to the same place in the body! A dont care if a protein has added bcaa's or added glutamine or 1g of carbs less.. Thats all extra junk to me.

Just thought i would have a look but a just couldnt believe thier prices.

Never knew they were part of GNC? Suppose that explains it.. The staff are round you like a smell trying to sell you anything in thier also.

It's crazy. I pop in now and then just to check out their range and I've seen a guy in the queue waiting to buy a 2kilo tub of ON protein for £100. I said to him he can get the exact same brand and size online for £40 if he shops around or if he's willing to try other brands you can get the same amount of protein for under £20 and he looked at me like I was trying to mug him and just said "I don't trust online companies". I guess he had money to burn.

Remember the amino spiking scam? Some of the BIG brand names were the worst for it.. Cant go wrong with myprotein.. Thier stuff is tested and pennys in comparison.. To me protein is protein.. Does the exact same job.. Obviously needs to taste alright but i think most ones these days are fine... I got vanilla whey £10 a kilo and it tastes very nice ?

Brick and Mortar stores always charge more as they have overheads to cover, so I always avoid it where I can.

Unless they have incredible foot traffic and turnover, you can always expect prices to be inflated to cover those costs.

Also some people just aren't comfortable with online shopping and prefer to pay more to avoid it.
