Herder's 2014 Log: All About the XPC Semi's

Thanks. It's hard to get good feedback on the Jack shirts.

Yea I couldn't find any when I got it. It's got a pretty forgiving groove and more rebound and less stopping power. I personally like it and couldn't believe the carry over i was getting.

Easier or harder to touch than Ace.

Sorry for the hijack, herder.

No problem. I love gear talk. I like the challenge of the extra variables that equipment creates. And of course the carryover goes without saying.

That makes sense to me. The Ace is pretty fickle on the groove.
I could never groove that shirt right. I dont belly bench now. I have successfully belly benched in the jack however. In the jack I just let the weight sink into the shirt and keep my elbows out until it locks, tuck some and repeat until it touches. 500 was easy this way. Easy shirt to use that is for sure.

I pretty much have to belly bench because of my arm length, but I like the larger groove area. It sounds more forgiving while loading the shirt.

I arch to much to belly bench which is why I had to stop. I touch at the top of my abs which is also the highest place of my arch. I have belly benched in the shirt also. The groove is very forgiving. The shirt tells me where to go and touch. I dont have have to fight it to stay in that perfect spot.

Ah. I see what you mean. When I said belly benching, I meant the spot you're talking about: top of my abs.

Ah i ment real belly benching lol. Roll shoulders forward belly is risin to touch then shoulders and pulled back and down as you slam the weight backwards. That type of benching is not for me. Its a great belly benching shirt then with our similar styles.

I'd need new shoulders if I did that. I need EFS to have another sale now.

What size is it, buddy?

I just left work and it's in my locker. I'll let you know Wednesday. Maybe I'll text someone to open my locker and check. Pretty sure it'll fit you. I can get it on without struggle with someone helping obviously.

I still have your Rage. I dunno how the **** you ever wore that. I couldn't get it over my shoulders and you're bigger than me lol

I have a 54 right now. As far as I've seen, it's a 405lb touch for now. If I can get this big one figured out, I'd consider picking up your slightly smaller one.

Last warmup day on bench

Hang
Super D Shoulder Routine

Barx2x8
135x2x5
225x2x3

Ring Pull Ups
BWx2x5

Log Press/Fat Man Rows

Lat Pulldown
Lightx2x8

Facepull
Lightx3x10

Everything's in check. Just trying to focus on cues. I know that's what made meet day go so well and also what made training go so average, finding the right cues and nailing them on the day. So don't be lazy with your cues and technique, guys! They make a huge difference.

I'm going to spend the offseason being very mindful of cues and technique, on bench and deadlift especially, to make it second nature.

Ahh was just asking cause the guys are doing a meet this weekend as well and the are lifting sat I think it seniors in Grand Rapids if I'm not mistaken

Do you live in grand rapids?

I do, my personal friend is the one putting on That meet, at Devos place. I would go but i'm working.

No I live in Blissfield michigan
I really want to go but it's my son's birthday and my wife would have my ass

LOL! Better skip it man. Can't be in the dog pound.

How far of a drive is that for you?

All I can say is this is going to be a sweet setup, he has a brand new mono for front and center platform, and two more for warmups

Map quest said it's about 2hr 40mins

Your not make it easier for me lol
Sounds awesome never been to a meet before and as looking forward to it till I learned the date

Sorry man. Not trying to say you're missing out but this promoter takes his meets seriously.

It's OK there will be others maybe one I'll participate in someday

Yeah there's always more meets.

Last year this same guy rented out the deltaplexx and had masters nationals, a cross fit competition, and strong man all in the same room, along with booths and what not

I'm not really into cross fit but being able to watch all three at once was really cool.

Yea I'm into the crossfit thing but to each there own some of the stuff they do I have to give them credit for

I bet it was quite the experience

Speedy Buddy Pulls

Band distracted Hammy (broke a heavy band today, slapped me in the ass very hard)
1-arm KB Swing 71x3x20
Rev Hyper BWx3x10

Pulls
355x6x1 30s between pulls

Lat Pulldowns
Mediumx4x8 (two sets wide neutral, two Yates style)

Back Extensions
3x20

Good Girl Machine
2x20 slow reps

And done. Just what I needed. Form was feeling a little awkward with the warmup weights, but by the third working set, I was locked in perfectly. I wasn't getting tight enough to float 245, but I got to the point where I was floating 355 setting up, and then everything was lightning fast and easy.

Openers for the weekend are 336 and 512. Don't know how I want to take seconds just yet, but I don't think the openers are heavy enough to take PR seconds. So I think I'll go just shy of PRs on second attempts and then take a healthy jump to a big PR third. Just trying to collect PRs without misses. If I'm not as strong as I was two weekends ago, then I'll take what's given, but I know I can still grab up two 2.5kg PRs on an off day.

So, this guy is going to be competing in my meet:

What

The

****

I met him at the Arnold this year. The most jacked guy in the room at the XPC Finals. He's got a 630-some raw bench and an 854 single ply bench. I think he's gunning for 900 single ply this weekend.

Weighed in at 238.3. My frickin scale is four pounds heavy! God damnit.

Sweet, I came just in time to skip on all the gear whoring and get to the weight lifting. Good luck, man!Allen is a cool dude. I've always been impressed by his raw bench strength. He used to do a few funny videos a while back, too. He had a few powerlifter vs. bodybuilder ones that were great, like where they competed to see who could rep the 100s on seated overhead press the most, things like that.

He is a funny guy, I caught some excellent dialogue between him and another guy from Parkersburg who benches in the 4s and 5s @ 165.

Sweet baby Jeebus. What were we sayin' about high reps and no carryover???

Well, gotta get back to my needlepoint at the rest home guys. We are having pudding after shuffle board tonight...!

Allen wasn't only benching. He's doing raw full power, and he just hit 804 in knee sleeves. 600lb raw bench incoming.

EDIT: Looks like I won't be lifting until 2 or 3.

Get after it man and kill it. You trained for this. I'll be waiting! Get some.
