Help with what dog breed to go with

Anyone here ever owned or knew someone who owned an Irish Wolfhound? I've been looking into these but I've never seen one in person and would like to get some firsthand knowledge on tempermant and such.

My next dog will be Newfoundland to go with my female(1/2 golden, 1/2 something huge and black) who is all black with a thick long coat. She gets mistaken all the time for a Newfoundland until they see the head. But after she's gone, I've been mulling my possibilites.
 
Had 4 different dogs - Boxer, Lab (both passed), Rott and German Shepherd. The shepherd is by far the best I have had. Smarter then me, very good with kids and other animals, but still very protective. She pretty much trained herself - show her once, she has got it. She needs a ton of excercise though.

The Rott is a great dog too - just a bit more stubborn, but still sweet and good with kids.

I will stick with those two breeds from now on.
 
Gotta love dogs.

I've had a black lab/german shepard mix, golden retreiver/yellow lab mix, and all black cocker in my life time.

Now I have a boxer and blonde cocker.

I could never have enough dogs. Strangley though I've never really cared for cats. They are just so distant i.e. not as loving as a good hooch.
