i usually use dumbells/smith/barbell bench when working my chest, but for some reason my barbell bench suxs. what work outs will improve my flat bench.?????

I stopped barbell benching for over a year, due to shoulder problems. I started BB benching again some weeks ago, and I'm now pressing 10lbs more than my previous max.

Just pointing out that to increase bench press strength, you don't always have to bench press.. :)

Try this, its called a power press...

Get in a power rack. Set up a bench in side of it. Set up the adjustable bars so that when you bring the bar down, your arms are at about 90 degrees. EXPLODE up throught the weight, and come to a complete stop after EVERY rep by resting for just a sec on the adjustable bars. Good luck.

good luck ol' chap

^^^^^ I am with him.
Power lifter dude at the gym I used to workout in did this and NO regular bench pressing to prepare for competition.

ego training.... hehe, kidding
The floor press is a known powerlifting technique and should help. You can always hit a bench program. Max outs, just really aim for strength in your flat bench lift, and that alone, should give you an up on your bench max/strength. Also, keep in mind, your pecs arent the only thing pushing that weight up. You gotta have strong tris, front delts, lats, and of course.... form. So bring those up and definitley, your bench will go up as well
