HCG with T Cyp?

TNmuscle

New member
Hey guys, my dad just started TRT and his doctor is less than stellar when it comes to knowledge. He is on 200 Mg cyp weekly. I suggested he takes HCG with it to improve results. He does not care about shutdown (as far as fertility) but I seem to think the HCG will help his results. The Dr says it won't. Who is right?

Thanks!

Before we say who is right (because there is no right or wrong)- what benefit do you anticipate he will see with adding HCG?

First things first, he needs to get his test levels dialed in and 200mg weekly is fairly high to start at.

Initial blood work was like 180 (if I recall)

Benefit would be, better results. More T and everything that goes with it. :)

The benefits would be to keep his balls alive and better chances to come back if he want to. But I think your dad is old enough to don’t want to come back or wants to have another children . Other than that nothing it’s not going to have better results . (What results you talking about ? He’s on trt not on cycle. )

Thanks, so adding it will NOT be the same as having a higher dose of T? His doc wont up the amount.

Will hCG decrease shbg? Not that I know of.

Will hCG increase free test? Not that I know of.

Will hCG increase estrogen? Possibly.

Will hCG increase any AI requirements? Possibly.

I cant see hCG having a synergistic benefit with his trt dose and improving its "efficacy".

But, as others alluded to, there can be other benefits to using it.

Can you think of a way he can improve the efficacy?

As kisaj said, get his basic dose and AI (if needed) dialled in first. Aromasin will tend to drop SHBG a little, and is obviously the basic adjunct to trt. Once he has a trt baseline established, he can look at other ways of decreasing shbg/increasing free test that ideally have minimal impact in other unwanted ways. Plus, he can look into pregnenolone and dhea etc.

Thanks NAC- really the most important thing he can do is get dialed in where he feels good and symptoms are addressed at the lowest possible amount of testosterone. That is why I commented about 200mg being kind of high. Generally you want to start lower and work up. When you start low, you help remove the possibilities of variables that could come into play- high E2, blood pressure, hematocrit, low/high free test, etc..

Once dialed in and consistent, then he will probably want to look at adding in pregnenolone and DHEA as they naturally lower with age and drop rapidly on exogenous test. It can really help with mood, energy, memory, and overall alpha feel.

HCG offers as benefits to TRT users primarily: helps with testicular atrophy, naturally helps keep pregnenolone levels elevated, and can help with fertility if one was to come off of TRT. However, I found that it dramatically increased e2 to the point that I spent so much time and effort controlling it that it was not worth it. I saw no benefits and only negatives, even on an AI. So rather than keeping all these adjuncts in, I removed HCG and then was able to control e2 levels and not need a regular AI.

I would recommend tongkat ali as an addition at some point as it works well to increase free test levels and that ultimately is what we want increased.

Wow! Thanks for such great responses gentlemen. What is the best way to control Estrogen levels? AND, by lowering Estrogen, isn't that raising the Testosterone level? Or am I mistaken?

Tongkat ali? Now I am confused. :/

The best way to control estrogen is through lifestyle and TRT protocol. Avoid excessive drinking, get proper sleep, use less testosterone, avoid heavy soy use, and if necessary get an AI. There are OTC supplements that can help, but it’s negligible.

Don’t worry about the tongkat ali at this point, I didn’t mean to cause any confusion. It is just a product that helps increase free test levels. For now, your dad only needs to get his testosterone protocol in working order.

Estrogen may not need to be controlled. Labs will determine if an AI is needed. You DO NOT want to tank E2.
Good Luck to your dad, tell him to be patient while he is getting dialed in.
