Sometimes some things make me so frustrated.

Here at work we just completed this year's Code of Conduct Training. Part of that CoC training had a course called "Corporate Citizenship". In that course they talkd about our company's policies.

One of these policies talks about bonded labor and forced labor. It says explicitly that no matter whether an employee is a salaried employee or on an hourly wage, no employee is to be forced to work any overtime without compensation. Whether that comcpensation be in the form of money or time.

Yet, in my department, I can't tell you how often they do just that: force us to work overtime without any compensation. Their justification? We are salaried. Yet, the corporate policy is STRICTLY against this.

Ah but can't I just speak up about it? HELL NO. I want to keep my job. I speak up and I'll find my ass out on the street faster than you can say "whistle blower". It pisses me off. We work 50 hours or more a week sometimes and get paid for only 35.

Oh and the best part is, they try to claim our overtime is voluntary. "Well, you don't HAVE to work overtime, but we DO expect you to get your projects done within the deadline." Yet, there is no humanly way any of our projects could ever be done within the defined timelines unless we work overtime. They know this. They don't care.

GAH! It's so frustrating. And the company policy also says that it is every employee's duty to report any violations of the corporate citizenship policy. Yeah right. A fat load of horse ****, that's what all of it is.

Welcome to the real world. LOL

And those public servants are the claiming over worked and underpaid. They don't know how good they have it until they try the private sector on for size :)

The real shitkicker is, I've been working for this place for 4 and a half years. I never bothered to pay any attention to the CoC stuff before this year. Only just noticed how full of **** this company is about it's "policies".

The truth is, the CoC only applies to peons, not to managers. Managers can abuse the CoC as much as they friggin want as long as the abused are below them and not above them.

Make sure you keep your stapler, your music at a resonable level - find your local chachkies and have some coffee to keep you sane then return to your wonderful cube. I feel your Pain brother - The office life blows - I cant' believe this is what I went to school for sometimes - stting in a freakin cube to answer to complete morons over and over again.

The department of labor just shoved a very large dildo up my company's ass over something like this. Figuratively speaking of course.

Whatever your company's policies are, don't worry. Look into the laws, and if they're breaking them sign up for a shitload of anonymous email accounts and send a boatload of complaints to the DOL. Usually they'll do something if it's warranted.

Just make sure there's not a traceable to you IPA in the full headers. Use TOR, Mixmaster or a location you can't be associated to.

Or you could just do it the old fashion way. Here's what you'll need:
3 Buddies
4 ski masks
2 leather belts
2 golf club shafts
1 getaway molester van
1 TYPED note explaining why what just happened, happened.

I think you can figure out the rest.:clap2:

Are you an Exempt or Non-Exempt enployee?

If your position does not qualify for an exemption, they are required to pay O/T at 1.5x hourly pay.

I'm most definitely exempt. I've always known that. This isn't a legal gripe. It's a corporate policy gripe. The CORPORATE policy is to compensate for ALL overtime by any employee whether salaried or not. The compensation may come in the form of time off or money, but the policy states they MUST be compensated for any mandatory overtime.

You see, the corporation has these policies in place supposedly "to protect their workers" when in reality it is actually in place only to give the appearance of protection since their rules aren't in any way shape or form enforced. THAT is what pisses me off. They give us this training test us on it to make sure that we know it. Make us sign forms stating explicitly that we will immediately report any violation of these policies to upper management, and then once we've signed, they **** on our heads, piss on the policies, and wipe them in our faces. And of course if any one of us ever DREAMED of reporting this abuse, we'd find ourselves out the door.

Damn bro, that sucks major ass, 15 hours of your week gone ! I didn't have it that bad in my first teaching job but they had meetings at least once a week, sometimes 3 times a week and then they'd volunteer you into commitees and projects that did virtually nothing for the school, the students, and took away from my coaching time :aargh: .
