[h=1]Comparative absorption of zinc picolinate, zinc citrate and zinc gluconate in humans.[/h]Invalid Link Removed, Invalid Link Removed, Invalid Link Removed, Invalid Link Removed, Invalid Link Removed.
[h=3]Abstract[/h]The comparative absorption of zinc after oral administration of three different complexed forms was studied in 15 healthy human volunteers in a double-blind four-period crossover trial. The individuals were randomly divided into four groups. Each group rotated for four week periods through a random sequence of oral supplementation including: zinc picolinate, zinc citrate, and zinc gluconate (equivalent to 50 mg elemental zinc per day) and placebo. Zinc was measured in hair, urine, erythrocyte and serum before and after each period. At the end of four weeks hair, urine and erythrocyte zinc levels rose significantly (p less than 0.005, p less than 0.001, and p less than 0.001) during zinc picolinate administration. There was no significant change in any of these parameters from zinc gluconate, zinc citrate or placebo administration. There was a small, insignificant rise in serum zinc during zinc picolinate, zinc citrate and placebo supplementation. The results of this study suggest that zinc absorption in humans can be improved by complexing zinc with picolinic acid.

Picolinates generally
are absorbed across the intestine better but some research found
that they caused greater excretion too, to the point of creating
deficiency with high dose (this was chromium picolinate).

So even though picolinates are better absorbed it is sort of pointless because you excrete more then taken?

Is there a difference between zinc citrate and zinc picolinate?
Which one is better? Is there situations where one should be used
over the other?
Yes they are different molecules, and if you tolerate or respond to
one better than the other that't the defining "situation" for me
personally as a chemically sensitive person and as a clinical
nutritionist developing protocols for clients. Picolinates generally
are absorbed across the intestine better but some research found
that they caused greater excretion too, to the point of creating
deficiency with high dose (this was chromium picolinate). I know
people with MCS who can only use picolinates and others who can
tolerate almost anything but citrates. Citrate forms of minerals,
esp. calcium and mag, can increase your stores of aluminum esp. if
kidney function is not good or you are taking alum. antacids.

I have run BioForge V3 and now am running VidaTest, its the same but VidaTest uses my preferred form of Long Jack. VidaTest FTW and its CHEAPER!!!!!!!!

I thought it was the same longjack? right?
