Handling fee?

So I have had a few clients do powerlifting meets. And the day of the meet I always handle them call attempts etc.. I have never charged them for that but i feel I should because it takes an entire day and traveling. How much should I charge? I train for 40$ an hour. I have no idea how much I should charge? Any input?

Your time is money. If you aren't training someone, you're losing money, so maybe a flat rate for the day to close the gap. That's just me.

Powerlifting code says you buy all your handlers meals and pay for their travel expenses. If they'll let you. I've never accepted that because the people I handled were training partners and I wanted to help them to their best.

If you are going as a coach they should make it costless for you, but you should not make profit. It's a culmination of your work together, that they did pay for.

Or you can ask whatever you feel comfortable with.

I'd go with that. They should handle your meals, gas, hotel room, etc. They've paid you for programming and coaching already, and as Hyde said, this is the culmination of that.

Ok so I'm just asking for gas money. Since I'm a full time coach and personal trainer I try not to do much for free. Don't wanna be taken advantage of. Thanks guys.

If you don't feel comfortable asking for this on top of the normal rates, absorb it into the rates you charge with a small increase if they are clients you are assisting with at meets often. If it something that requires above normal drive distance/time, let them know that you need to have that paid for. No one works for free.

Great advice.
I am sure you consider yourself a professional-don't forget to treat yourself as one.
Your time is valuable-don't feel bad about explicitly putting a price on it

Id just put in your price list a seperate thing saying if you attend meets and are helping them throughout that day, it's a certain price. You shouldn't have to pay a dime to go with them to their meets. And they should compensate you for your time there.
