Gym Invasions

So I've currently been experiencing a surge in extremely young kids crowding my gym... to the point where my overall mood dive bombs and I have to alter workouts to work around the extra long waiting periods for essential equipment. My coworkers and friends are also experiencing the same exact thing in their gyms. It's becoming very problematic.

No home or garage gym solution for me...

I understand gym owners appreciate the extra revenue, but where does that leave the people like me? Are any of you in the same boat?Invalid Link Removed

yea but it has a lunk alarm.. you cant just get that at any gym...

and what about free pizza fridays!?

I aint hating. its a gym and some guys dont have options like was said in OP.

I don't attend any Planet Fitness gyms. My coworker does and took a pic of this promotion. I put up the pic to show as an example of this invasion there and in alot of other gyms.

So anyway, how in the hell is the crowd at your non-planet fitness gym?

It’s summertime and the kiddos want ti tighten their abs or something. We all started somewhere.

Sounds like there’s nothing you can do about the crowd or commercial option. To prevent your mood from declining, plan some alternative workouts or rotations so you can easily transition to the available equipment. You have to make the best of what you have available.

Free weights, machines, cables... literally everything is taken up. I've done several variations of my original workout plan.

I'm just all together going to give up on having my original question answered on this thread. Thanks.

What was your original question?

it happens every yr. at every gym here. usually around the new yr until mid june. then it falls back off until the following yr.

@MikeSumthin …do they all have that stupid broccoli lookin haircut?…does it look like they spent more money on their gym clothes and headphones than it does their nutrition?….Are there shmedium tee’s as far as they eye can see?

Only thing as bad is that Jan 1st crowd 🤷‍♂️

Make the best of it, try to set the example

Gyms have become more crowded and younger since college ended and even more so as high schools have let out. It is mildly annoying. The younger people who come by themselves just get their work done, like the rest of us. The ones who come in pairs or threes are usually the annoying ones. For instance, one of them was doing skull crushers in a power rack yesterday, when all the other racks were occupied.

I started lifting in a small community fitness center with limited equipment, but no crowd - so I was a little spoiled as far as having the gym to myself. Now I frequent gyms with more equipment and amenities, and run into more crowds. The way I see it, dealing with a busy gym is the normal state of affairs. Moving from equipment to equipment at will is more of a luxury/anomaly.

Holy hell!!! YES!!! The broccoli haircuts are in full effect, bwaahahahaha!!! They also flex every 5secs in the mirrors and 10 of them are crowding the locker rooms talking about how swole they got.

i have multiple gym memberships .. but mainly go to local gym early morning 5-6am

and its always serious people no monkeying around .. young to old.

Yes, I’m seeing the same problem at the commercial gym I go to. January is obnoxious with all the New Year’s resolution people and college kids on break taking up extra space. That crowd fades out into Feb/March and getting weights/equipment becomes more normal. April and May are good, now we’re in June and all the young people are there working on their beach bodies. Groups of young thots doing hip thrusts, groups of 10 broccoli boys doing fake karate fights around the benches, endless flexing and photo sessions between sets and nonsense supplement talk and dry scooping in the locker room.

That all sucks, but the worst part is the frustrating lack of full size bars. If there is 10 locations for benching/shoulders/squat racks, this gym only has 5 bent bars. You have to wait on these kids to finish socializing, run and grab the bar from the bench and carry it across the gym to the squat rack. I think they took the bars from the locations during the height of Covid to increase ‘social distancing’, and never brought them back.

I need a better place to work out.

and dont forget the ones that need their buddy to video their workout,, you know,, for form? ha

A post like this makes me appreciate my garage gym.

OP maybe switch the time you go to your gym to avoid the crowds you speak about.

Well, I guess in some ways, it's good to encourage youngsters, especially to work out. But then, it does increase the traffic in the gym...and all the bench press equipment and biceps equipment will be occupied for hours.

Become part of the 4am (or 5am) crowd. Problem solved.

yeah thats what i started doing .. have to sacrifice 1-2hr of sleep .. but overall i feel really good .

I go at 5am and it the same small group. I go at 5pm for spinning class and occasionally walk to the weight section to see if I recognize anyone and it is swarming with an assortment of all types. Noise, DBs and Chaos everywhere. It has always been that way. I used to be an afternoon person and switched to early dark hour mornings in late 2014 due to change in work commute. Exception is Friday afternoon probably due everyone out partying and the free weight is quite empty and accessible.

I never understood why most Fridays throughout the entire day, gyms are ghost towns. You'd think a majority take the weekend rest days, why wouldn't they all wanna get it in before the friday night/weekend partying?

Too eager to be smashig beverages? 🤷‍♀️ Losing valuable party time with a 2-3 hour trip to the gym 🍻
