I am swapping to a GVT routine because I have always liked
the look of it and decided I might try it . I also just started
my first cycle and I was wondering about the difference it
would make. I know people say to train the same, but with
this I 'm not sure what to do to up intensity really other than
add weight, but with this much volume idk if that is a real
option. Thoughts ? perhaps throw in some heavier sets after
it 's all done?
M -
Bench - 10 x10
Skull Crushers - 10 x10
Military Press - 10x 10
W -
Rows - 10x 10
Barbell Curls - 10x 10
F -
Squat - 10 x10
Calf Raises - 10x 10
I want to throw Deadlifts in there, but I'm not sure where I
want them due to what the sites I 've read say about the
intensity of the routine. I am wondering about leg or back .
Ideas?

That routine isn't a GVT routine. You have just thrown exercises together with the same reps and sets.

There is a reason Charles designed it with antagonistic muscle pairing.

That surprises me! I assume if they are exactly the same they are by the same author. Who is it?

The thing is, if you want to do GVT itself it makes sense to keep it as close to the original as feasibly possible otherwise you are not technically doing GVT.

In your version you have;
- cut down on the training frequency
- changed the training split
- skipped antagonistic muscle pairing
- added in a third, 100 rep total exercise on Monday
- cut the assistance exercises out

It doesn't really resemble GVT anymore other than you have some exercises with a 10 x 10 rep scheme. I am not saying you won't make progress on this routine necessarily. What I am saying is that GVT is one of the most popular and searched for programmes on the internet, there is a reason that people keep using it and not using one of the multitude of GVT knock offs that have appeared over the years.

I don't think GVT is the best thing you could do on a M/W/F split as the training frequency per body part would be spaced apart quite a lot.

You could take the conventional GVT programme and simply change the days. I wouldn't expect the same results but it is about the best you can get with your time constraints.

I am reluctant to edit any famous programmes because it defeats the object of using a famous programme. It is supposed to be GVT not BDCCVT. ;)
