It is this fluoride/aluminum association in tea that is particularly worrisome. Your body does not readily absorb aluminum by itself. But, in the presence of fluoride ions, the fluoride ions combine with the aluminum to form aluminum fluoride, which is more easily absorbed by your body.
Once in your body, the aluminum eventually combines with oxygen to form aluminum oxide or alumina -- the compound of aluminum that is found in brains diseased with Alzheimer's.
