donate $20 and I believe you get gold member status... I think that also allows you to close your own threads?
 
It's basically for those who donated more then once. Just like the grey it's a way for those members to stand out and for us to show our appreciation.

no you get this kit in the mail to dip your "member" in and it will come out shiny and gold. Doesn't hurt as much as bobo puts out to be.
