gokix's summer kickoff!

Some bad news guys... today I was let go from my job of one year. The day after I come back from my vacation and the week of Thanksgiving so the timing couldn't have been worse. Super bummed out right now.


Keep positive. U will find an amazing new job.
 
damn that sucks kix! im sure you'll bounce back and find a better job soon! i know what its like to be unemployed, but sooner or later youre bound to get back on your feet if you keep a positive attitude and keep spamming your resumes :D
 
Thanks for your kind words everyone. :love: I'm doing my best to try and keep my head up. To be honest, my training has taken a back seat since I've gotten back. The holidays and delicious food everywhere is making it challenging as well! I think I just need to sit down and write up new goals for me to reach which will keep me motivated and moving forward. Anyway, here's a pic of me in St. Maarten last week. It was really nice even though I got sunburned on my shoulders!

Your right about the holiday's. It's super hard to keep your diet in check this time of year. Three holiday's right in a row, all pretty much surrounded by food and beverages....:soapbox::saevilw:

Thanks Q :) The waves at this beach were a little rougher but it was in a pretty secluded area with only a handful of people. It felt like paradise... there was another, more popular nude beach, but that didn't pique my interest at all lol. Oh and I saw your after pics too. Alll I have to say is they are damn inspirational!! Your abs are flat as a washboard!!

Anything with pumpkin is a big problem for me...I kept a very low carb diet prior to leaving, but once I got on the ship I went a little carb crazy lol... I stepped on the scale and HOLY BATMAN I gained about 19 lbs!! Luckily, 10lbs of water weight has come off over the past few days so hopefully it keeps going down.
 
Sorry to hear about your job, happy to hear you had a good time on your vacation!

As far as the holidays go, today was a planned carb day for me. Next week I'll be bulking with carbs until Jan 1 for the reasons already mentioned. It's just too difficult to stay social, IMO. Luckily I've got some AP, yellow gold & 2 tubs of bulk P-Slin here to help me :D

PS: don't sweat the weight gain, I've gained about 20lbs after a carb up before.

Things could always be worse! Hold your head up high and something better will come along, no doubt! It actually is probably better it came during a time when you reflect on all you have to be thankful for (glass half full:D).

Lovely picture. That carb weight will fly off.

I know it's after the fact but I lined up my heavy leg day with Thanksgiving. my big Thanksgiving meal was 90 minutes after I finished training.

Don't let anything discourage you. You can get to where you want to go. You've come so far already. Hard work will pay off in the gym and life in general! Hang in there!

Gonna try and get a 2nd session in later. Left shoulder started getting achy and experienced side cramp as well. Nice to see fellow joggers though, gives me a little pump and I know I'm not suffering alone lol. Trying to acclimate myself to the cold weather. Hate feeling hot and cold at the same time - makes my stomach turn. I enjoy listening to music when I'm jogging but I think the treble from the ear buds + chilly weather hurts my ears. Does this happen to anyone else?

Thanks Q :) Yeah, not too bad but I was aching the next day lol. My diet is going to be similar to how it was before I left - high protein, moderate fat, low carb. Sticking around 1500 calories this week to assess and then go from there. Funny you mention that. Before I left for my trip my mom told me not to lose any more weight because 'skinny' wasn't a good look. I'm hardly 'skinny'. Then just last week as I was stuffing my face full of rice and stuffing she told me to stop eating so much because I was going to get fat again! LOL!!!! So then I was like:

That's too funny, sounds just like my mom! I don't know about you but I actually get mad when I'm accused of being skinny!! Skinny?? Please?!? By the way, my mom once called me obese and even though I was, I preferred to be called fat!!

As for ear pain and running in cold weather, I get it, but I only get it when I'm now wearin something to cover my ears.
Way to get back to it. It's hard to get back in a routine!
 
Came down with a minor cold this weekend but hopefully it goes away soon! I tried out complexes on Friday and it was a nice change. However I think I'd benefit more by keeping my ABA/BAB schedule and just adding the complexes on top of my cardio days as opposed to my original plan.

In February it will have been 1 yr since I started this journey and I think it's only fitting to have a weight goal in mind. The # I have set is 138 lbs! Today is Day 1; 61 days to go. :)

I know it's rude to ask a lady this but what is your current weight? Did you end up dropping most of that carb weight from your cruise??

I dropped a good amount of carb weight and ended up around 156. I am on my cycle this week so holding water weight and bloat. I will wait a few days to get a starting weight number. :-)

Got a good workout in despite this darn cold. Will hold off on liss cardio until if I feel my sore throat/coughing is under control. Half burpees really got me sweating but could only do 3 sets because the constant squat into burpee position started agitating my hips.
 
Get some of that Yogi Tea... I had some Yogi decongestion tea this morning... Cleared me right out...

Well you have been stressed too.. that can affect sleep, and energy, and the immune system.. be sure you are taking enough vitamin d, and vitamin c and zinc. :)

Just wondering, i don't know if it applies to women as well but you generally don't want to squat and deadlift on the same day too often. Too much stress on dem hammies...

When I first started months ago I was doing SL 5x5 and that program calls for squat and deads on the same day which was a lot! But I think if I'm just sticking to Body weight squats right now it shouldn't stress the hammies too much. :)

Gonna have to give that a try sometime - I usually go for oregano oil for colds, etc

DL's were difficult for me today, not sure why. =\ Just one of those days I think. Finished up with a set of 10. DB squats burned in a good way after step ups! Didn't go ATG but just made sure to hit parallel each time. Hips feel OK right now, and if there is no indication of a flare up tomorrow then I'll likely add it back into my routine.

Did some damage over the weekend with my diet. Not too horrible but people can't be putting a pumpkin pie in front of me and not expect me to eat it?! On the upside it gave me good energy to power through my workout today. Also I've been putting down rack chins but upon further research the exercise is more like an inverted row...oops! Feel kinda silly now. And just want to say thank you to the person who sent me that great motivational video - you know who you are. Really touching. :)
