Goblet Kettlebell Squats: Which Side Points Upward?

Hi Everyone,

Just curious, on goblet kettlebell squats, which side points upwards? The handle or the big weight belly?

For some reason, I could never find a definitive answer. I wonder if it makes any difference at all.

The handle obviously. Holding an 80lb KB belly side up is just asking for all kinds of trouble.

Thanks. Is there actually scientific research on this?

I have always held it by the handle. Yet, I worry that I am not getting as much resistance as if the KB belly was up.

So, according to science research, what is the best grip?

Handle up-belly down? Belly up-handle down? Or, handle up-but cupping hands from the bottom?

I have always held the handle but with the bell flipped upside down. Pretty common method but whatever works best for you is what you should do.
