Glutamine and Recovery

During bulking, glutamine is overkill because you are in a caloric surplus; however, while cutting, glutamine has its uses, mainly digestive aid and immune system boosting. That being said, if money is an issue, then glutamine would be one of my first cuts.

didn't i say that???

you put it more eloquently i guess.

repped. (i'm rep happy today...)

soo basically the more bcaa's i have with my glutamine powder the more the glutamine with be absorbed and work??

last year, i fell off a crotch rocket and got really bad road rash, 2nd degree burns. I supplemented with glutamine at high doses like 20 to 25 grams spread throughout the day, after my two week check up my docter was amazed at how fast my road rash was healing.

Various clincal studies demonstrate that glutamine speeds up the healing time of ulcers, and can boost your immune sytem, even if glutamine remains contraversal with training recovery, its other uses are enough for me to continue supplementing with it

It is a valuable supplement for certain conditions. I use it frequently in the CCU/ICU where I work. I just do not believe it is essential for the average or even above average bodybuilder. Considering the dose and the cost I am not sure it is cost effective but it is not something that will be counterproductive so enjoy.

strategicmove- u said that glutamine helps in surgery recovery? im getting surgery to fix a hernia in a week, will glutamine help me out in recovering and how much should i take if it does?

The body cannot absorb orally ingested Glutamine!!!

Most supplemental Glutamine is destroyed by digestive enzymes before it ever gets into the bloodstream. That's why no one ever got any impressive results from the use of all that extra Glutamine. The ONLY way for your muscles to reap the benefits of Glutamine is the way nature intended - by converting it from the Branched Chain Amino Acids! Buy some BCAA's or leucine. Save your money.

Hmmm ok why cant the body absorb glutamine powder but it will absorb regular BCAA powder??

If it cant abosrb one very well , i dont see it absorbing the other either considering they're one in the same
