Glucose disposal agent questions

I train fasted early in the AM.

Question: Would there be pump benefits to mixing a GDA with Cluster dextrin pre workout?

I’m asking because it seems like Cluster dextrin digests very well, so wondering how much it would help with getting to the muscles.

Side note: I actually haven’t been taking cluster dextrin since about may, because my A1C was a little elevated. Stopped all cluster dextrin and my A1C stayed essentially the same, so I don’t think it’s the cluster dextrin, so I’m thinking of adding it back it. I’ve read GDAs can help with A1C so that’s what got me on this. So if it can help my A1C and get better pumps, well I’ll try it.

Possibly. I think it would depend on the GDA. Have you also looked into Karbolyn as a carb source?

Yes, 100%, a GDA with pre workout carbs will give give a greater pump given that your well hydrated and all that . A GDA allows more glycogen storage in the muscle. It also increases insulin sensitivity and the nutrient partitioning effects are going to allow you to use more glucose for fuel, so less glucose can be converted into fat. The increased insulin sensitivity in your muscle cells allows for more blood flow to your muscles and all of these things are conducive to a better pump.

If your natural then use natural GDA ingredients. Metformin will still work exactly like you want it to but at the cost of lowering testosterone and possibly lowering igf-1.

If your on gear, its not a issue.

I use to take Karbolyn way back, in high school, haven’t since. I started cluster dextrin a few years ago when I had to start working out fasted early in the AM, and went with that because from what I’ve read it’s the best for not spiking blood glucose. Should I reconsider karbolyn?

Yeah, in my mind, being in decent shape and taking dextrin first thing fasted, I felt like I should be naturally partitioning it pretty well. But now with my A1C elevated maybe im not partitioning it as well.

I’m natural, yeah I’m trying to avoid metformin, the work PA recommended it but I’m literally 0.1% over the threshold on A1C.

Have you considered GlucoVantage XT ? or Glycophase ?

I’ve personally seen a lot of value in GlucoVantage when managing carbs.

I’m considering Glycophase or a GDA, that’s why I’m wondering if it’s ok with just cluster dextrin in the AM fasted. I don’t have time to get a real meal in before workout out unfortunately.

I like sipping about 200-400 calories of Karoblyn during my workout. Never added a GDA to this. Pump would probably be crazy! Gonna try.

Yes, you can take GlycoPhase fasted with Cluster Dextrin. I've done that a lot myself.

I'm not sure if @TheMrMuscle still reads on here, but he had posted a lot in the past on using GlycoPhase in different scenarios.
