Iron Legion Invictus

I was fortunate enough to get sent a bottle of Invictus to try out. I've went ahead and purchased more bottles, as I have 60% of this first bottle left and I'll be running a second bottle once it finishes.

Why Invictus?

  • I have 2mm separations on every disc in my lower back
  • In addition to this, I've had consistent back pain for the last two years since my injury

One of the hopes with Invictus is that it'll help lessen inflammation, and help me be able to lift normally.

Workouts: You will not see any barbell squats or deadlifts in my workouts. Since my injury, the spine & back specialist I saw advised that I should eliminate all workouts that put weight on my shoulders & eliminate deadlifts.

So, do I lift legs? Of course I do. In all honesty, since dropping squats & deadlifts two years ago my legs have grown significantly more as I abuse them with other exercises.

What workout plan do you follow?
I follow a modified version of Kris Gethin's Muscle Building plan. I ran it once before and absolutely loved it. I use a lot of the plan as my base for my workouts, and add in items/volume that I want to hit more often.

What kind of diet do you keep?
Prior to this, I've been hovering between 220-230lbs. After doing 10 weeks of intense physical therapy, my PT suggested that dropping 20lbs would help my recovery & overall health. I'm not overweight by any means, but the 6'0 frame I have just doesn't seem meant to hold that weight.

For this log, I'll be staying at 2600-2700 calories. Aiming for a min of 180g Protein/day. Outside of that, I like to keep a min of 70g Fats/day. The carbs fluctuate.

What results would you be happy with?
I'd be happy if within the next 8 weeks I'm down to 218lbs. That's a tad lofty of a goal, as that'd be hitting the 1.5lb/week goal and that's fairly lofty in my opinion for not wanting to lose muscle mass either.

What other supplements will you take?
  • Orange Triad Powder
  • SNS Focus XT
  • SNS Betaine
  • SNS ZMA
  • SNS Cit Malate
  • KSM-66
  • Fish Oil
  • Xtend & BCAAs
  • SNS Huperzine A
  • MAN Sports Gameday V1
  • Komodo Katana
I'll be posting my daily workouts & calorie intake. I use MyFitnessPal still, even though it was 100000x better prior to being bought by UA.

I'm approximately 10 days into the Invictus.

I've only started keeping the macros today, but I've noticed a solid leaning out effect in the past two days. I'm excited to see what the rest of this run looks like.

I'll have macros & daily workout up starting tomorrow.

Thanks for all the support.

Yesterday was an odd day. I woke up late and as such planned on just doing some cardio & physical therapy exercises at lunch.

So we had a pickle ball tournament at work, and I ended up playing a few games.

Macros:
I ended up right around 2700. I had some sushi for dinner, and as such there wasn't any way to calculate the calories but I had enough room left to comfortable say 2700 calories.

Gym Workout:
-- 15 mins on Elliptical
-- Thoraic Lumbar Rows. Basically the cable machine set at chest height and you're doing a punching motion to loosen the upper back up.
-- Lawnmowers
-- Ab Rollouts using TRX
-- Foam Roller Thoraic lumbar/upper back stretching
-- Foam Roller "bird dogs"
-- Foam Roller vertical and stretching the chest
-- Foam Roller vertical and alternating reaching backwards with hands

A handful of people are sick at work, one was out cause she had strep. My girlfriend also has been sick, so I woke up this morning feel iffy. I have a doctor's visit in an hour so as long as it's not strep or anything from the neck down I'll be hitting back today.

Thoughts so far: I've been sleeping a lot better the past 5 days. I've woken up leaner which is really nice. No increase in joint pain. My back has felt fairly decently considering the activities I've been doing.

Welp, Welp. The rapid test said negative but the doc said that's only right about 50% of the time.

Left with a prescription, so out of commission for 24 hours till no longer contagious.

That being said, I'll know Tuesday for sure once the results from lab comes back but since my throat is sore, I was exposed to strep and show other symptoms the doc thinks I have it.

In any case, as long as my throat isn't painful again tomorrow I'll be at the gym.

Woke up feeling pretty bleh and sick to my stomach almost all day. No workout today. Didn't track my macros yesterday or today, figure I'll let my body dictate what I eat. In any case, hope to be back in the gym tomorrow

good luck bud, hope you get to feeling better!
So, last few days have basically been feeling like ****. Seems almost like I got a cold on top of strep lol.

Anyways, I feel half decent today so I'm going to try for 10-15 mins of cardio and some of my physical therapy exercises. Hopefully this is the tail end of the cold and I can resume to normal workouts soon.

Okay. Today was a step forward. Felt better overall honestly. I did 20 mins of cardio via elliptical and played some basketball(just horse) at Work today.

I recalculated my macros today using the IIFYM calculator and I've lowered my goal down to 2550 total overall. I'm pretty sure this amount is the best for my weight loss goals.

Current Weight: ~230lbs

Goal: ~215lbs

Welp. I still felt meh yesterday but managed to do cardio & the stretches/light exercises.

I'm feeling better each day so hoping tonight I can lift some weights and if not then tomorrow morning for sure.

I'm going out of town Friday and Saturday night. Camping with the puppy up north so hopefully I feel refreshed after getting away.

glad to see you're doing a bit better!
Thanks man!

Alright some updates:

Thursday:
I hit shoulders and abs on Thursday.

-15 mins of cardio, 1.7 miles
-Hang and Swings (Mountain Dog training)
-Hang and Swings against incline bench
-Ab Rollouts (4 sets of 15)
-Mobility Exercises

Friday:

I hit chest and triceps on Friday. It was one of my better workouts without a doubt.
-15 mins cardio, 1.6 miles
- Incline DB Chest Press: 4 sets of 8,10,10,12 at 75lb DBs
-Incline Flys: 4 sets of 12 at 35lbs
-Flat Bench Twist and Press: 4 sets of 15 at 55lbs
-Tricep Dips against bench, 5 sets of 20
-Tricep Rope Extension: 4 sets of 20, hold at bottom
for 2 seconds at full extension
-Tricep flat bar pull downs: 3 sets of 15

Notes: I take a max of 15 seconds between sets so my heart rate is constantly high. I prefer this style of lifting over the more traditional long rest periods.

Today:

I woke up feel quite tired as I had worked a 12 hour day and had some friends over last night but still hit the gym hard.

Back Day:
Cardio: 2.3 miles on elliptical in 15 mins
1.) Seated Row Machine: 4 sets of 15 at 105lbs
2.) Seated Cable Row: 4 sets of 15 at 125lbs
3.) Lat Pulldowns: 4 sets of 15 at 135lbs
4.) Standing one arm cable rows rotations: 5 sets of 20 at 60lbs
5.) Flatbar Pulldowns, arms straight: 5 sets of 20 at 60lbs

Feelings overall:
This was getting much closer to a workout I would normally have. I'm not 100% there yet and the intensity/volume will pick up once I'm back but probably my best workout in 4 months. Ive been dealing with the back rehab for a few months now and the foam rolling/stretching has been incredible for me.

Invictus has def played a role cause the last 20-30 days has been great. Looking forward to using the new bottle once this one runs out.

Sorry for the gap.

I weighed in this afternoon at 225.0 flat. I started at 232.0. Still 25 total lbs to go but this stuff is great.

I will be starting a new log fresh in 2 weeks as I will transition to stacking Invictus and 7kt and seeing how much more I can drop.

In the meantime I'll continue updating this log till then.
