Gel Application

First time using xpg gels, especially the ursa. When I applied, it left a white residue on the skin that started to flake up while I was rubbing it in. I was wondering if this is normal and any tips for application would be appreciated. Thanks

Sodium Ursolate is white and Ursa-Gel has a higher concentration of it than other brands, so its natural for their to be a slight white residue with it; which appears more visible on some skin tones.

However, if it is flaking, that normally means that you are rubbing it in too much. I always emphasize - rub it on, not rub it in.

It is the job of the carrier to get it through the skin. Some people feel like they have to rub it in, and that's not the case and can result in over-rubbing it and flaking.

How long does it take to absorb?

You could be meaning 2 different things by this question, so I'll answer both ways.

They will first absorb into the skin and then absorb into the bloodstream (if systemic).

One of the benefits of a topical is the more steady state absorption into the bloodstream, which occurs after its absorbed through the skin.

I wouldn't take a shower for at least 2 hours after applying; ideally not for 4 hours.

The way I personally use it is that I use it morning and night. I wait at least 10 minutes after showering in the morning to apply it and then apply it again at night.

Thanks for the feedback. I was asking more along the lines of when after applying can I put clothing on. How long does it take to absorb before doing this?

like minutes. I do try to towel dry as much as possible but my normal routine is shower > put in contacts before touching TDs > brush teeth and then I'm usually dry enough to the touch to start putting on socks and shirt etc.

I know for some guys if they have sensitive skin it's sometimes suggested to wait longer post shower but I rarely find any issues from applying TD right after the shower and I've never had any skin irritation from any of the XPG products.

Ah okay. You're talking about drying time versus absorption time.

Drying time is less than 5 minutes for me.
