Frank Zane is cool

he's bigger then what I ever want to end up looking like-I say that now as a kid.

but compared to Ronnie or Jay I think Frank kicks their asses all over the place.

no disrespect the Ron's and Jays are elite body builders that deserve priase for pushing themselves past any other human to date but at the end of the day

Frank Zane is cool

My favorite as well..who would'nt want that look? By the way, just to clear up the confusion, I'm talking about the bodybuilder , not the vaudeville performer Frank Zany, who wore funny hats and made loud farting noises. Thank you:bow28:

No doubt he's the man, but I dont think that he compares to Ronnie or Jay. His symetry and what not can only carry him so far when he is out massed by THAT much.

Frank was King when BB was still an art form. Today's sport is more like a monster truckfest. I more so appreciate the art form but I am from that time as well so to speak. I will tip the hat to what they have achieved today with out doubt, but I have my preferences. Dave Draper was and still is a great spokesperson for the sport as I remember it. Looks good as well based on the last pictures I saw.

Can't really compare them, the sport has evolved into a different animal. I personally like Arnold's look the best but to each his own

Have always been a fan of Zane's. His books are pretty good including a log book that he put out not long ago. Very cool physique to look up to. Cool guy too.

I agree..that guy was a walking work of art, with Arnold right up there as well. I really do not like the look of today's superheavy weights...they look cartoon characters. Sure it's impressive, but not in a truly inspiring way for me..I just don't want to look like Ronnie.

I just don't want to look like Ronnie
Neither do I. And while I think Frank Zane was great, I tend to go for people who's bodytypes are similar to mine. Guys like Viator, Eder, and Yates in 92-93.

Great quote! I think that is sig worthy.

I think one of the things that gives top pros today the cartoon superhero look is the humungous traps and vast delt width. The pregnant six packs don't really contribute to the cartoon look as much as they just look bad.

Like they swallowed a giant tortise.

Zane and Nubret are probably the two best from that era. Nubret especially. Guy was pretty big for his time but still had great symmetry. Arnold had a great upper body, I think his legs were a bit out of balance though. He should have taken his upper body down or the legs up a bit to even out, he would have looked insane for his time.

If I had viator's body type (including genetics) I'd be stoked! Imo one of the most genetically gifted ever. I like zanes look and being a tall ectomorph it's more achievable. Plus the big guys have to spend too much on food!
