You are going to see a lot more of these absolute bullshit allegations in the near future. Why? Because Congress forced the FDA to create a website where ANYONE can enter any adverse event they want to on any drug without an audit or oversight of any kind. If I so chose, I could log 100 seperate adverse events under fake names for any drug I so choose. The FDA then has to investigate. Upon investigation they will immediately discover that the claims were bogus, but that won't stop news organizations from reporting the investigation happened.

That is precisely what is happening here. I would be willing to bet $100 that all 50 reports were logged by Lilly employees.

These are extremely horrible times for the Pharma industry. Personally I think a bill needs to go into place to regulate the media. Stories which claim to be unbiased must all show both sides of the issue they are reporting on and must not make any claims to any kind of opinions at all or be subject to serious fines. Biased stories could still be shown but they would have to have a disclaimer stating explicitly that they are biased.

My ole man always said if you dont stop it youll go blind..LOL

and my reply was well how about just til I need glasses like you...

Sorry I could not resist.

If you read the label on both Cialis and Viagra they do list vision problems as a possible side effect.. and I personally believe that Big Pharma is out to screw the rest of us. They have NO vested interest in seeing us well, they need us sick and in need of medication. The FDA is pretty much in the pocket of the Pharmacitical companies

Regulation of the media is called censorship.. and that is something that does not need to even be explored.. as for the reporting in the media, yes they do need to clear up their act about how they report items.. and we can thank Randolph Hearst for this little trend in journalism....

It wouldn't be censorship if you allow them to report it with a disclaimer. They should still be allowed to say whatever as long as if it isn't balanced, they explicitly state it is biased.

All reporting has some bias in it.. doesn't matter what paper you are working for... fact of human nature

Well I hope they study more into this blindness issue then. I wonder how often people are taking it to go blind. And they're probably also meaning "legally" blind - not blind like your eyelids are stuck shut.. That would be pretty scary...

Is that blindness due to excessive Mastrubation or the "Steal effect" of pulling blood from other areas to the groin, it seriously does have that negative effect, that's why Angina patients aren't supposed to work Vagina with V.

Just saw this and all I can say is AMEN!!

There arent many more corrupt relationships out there than that of the FDA and big pharm business. This is my number one pet peeve in the US. The corruption is rampant and the laws are continually passed veiled as protection for consumers when in reality they are all aimed at protecting sales and profit margins of the pharma companies.

Sadly this statement is indicative of the uninformed state of the American populace regarding their own system.

There is no collusion between the FDA and pharma. NOTHING is there to help pharma. NOTHING. Virtually every law we have on the books regarding pharmaceuticals harms the pharma industry.

I keep saying it, but really unless you are in the industry you'll have no clue just how harsh the regulations are and how much it costs to adhere to them. It's a horrible system, but while most of the public is of the mindset that consumers are being screwed, the truth is that big pharma is the one getting screwed on a regular basis.

First off NUllidiifan let me just say I respect your opinion. I have seen enough of your posts to know you are a sincere person. You speak intelligently and seem to have an obvious insiders perspective on the big pharma industry. I believe that at many levels you are indeed restricted and controlled making your jobs difficult. I think there are a whole lot of people with good intentions at many levels of the pharma companies. I respectfully will submit to you however that at the highest levels of management there most certainly is collusion with the FDA. This of course is my opinion and I suppose I coiuld be wrong. The truth is that if you dig into any industry the size of pharma you will find widespread corruption, coverups , collusion etc.

I love this country a lot......but when it comes to drug costs and health care our democracy leaves a lot to be desired. Having said that I do realize it could be worse..............I have sat for the last two weeks trying to help my elderly aunt figure out the new medicare coverage and I have to say its a good damn thing shes no alone in trying to figure it all out.
